I just found this in the Guardian. It's a website for independent book sellers who have grouped together. It started in the States a few months ago, and is now in the UK as well. I have been buying English-language books from The Book Depository, even though I know it was bought by Amazon a few years ago. It turns out Amazon also owns Abe Books. Meanwhile small French bookstores are arguing that they should be allowed to stay open during the lockdown because people need to read and find unexpected surprises in small shops. www.theguardian.com/books/2020/nov/02/this-is-revolutionary-new-online-bookshop-unites-indies-to-rival-amazon

While the shops are closed, the French government has announced that postal fees will be reduced about 75% for mailing books, CDs and sheet music, so that small sellers can serve their customers.

I just found out about Bookshop.org and now see that Bjd was way ahead of me. No matter -- this is great information for people wanting physical books, plus the organization has grown a great deal since first shown here. It does not yet serve the Americas outside of the US, nor most of Europe, nor any of the rest of the world, but does have a BookshopUK and a BookshopSpain. Here is the "About" page, which I'm showing first because I had to hunt for it on the home page: bookshop.org/pages/aboutAnd here is the home page: bookshop.org/

I was in Waterstones today, got 2 books for my son, I have them in audiobook form but he still prefers books. I earned points on my Waterstones card and now have enough for a free book....bonus.
