It was run at "getting dinner ready time" so I only saw snippets but those were marvellous. Try to watch the episode which tells the story of the wreck of the ship "Batavia"...off the South Western coast of the country. Tiwi and the other Northern Islands are a completely different culture and race to the Aborigines on the mainland. It is easy to see how the Islanders had frequent contacts with the outside world. They are a little more like Papuan/ New Guinean in their culture.
The most important thing in Tiwi life is Australian Rules football! It is remarkable how such a small population can produce so many great players for the big cities down south.
I hope you enjoy the series.

Even the women were brilliant at the football!
Excellent series. Recommend it to everybody if you can get it.

I love Martin Clunes in anything he does. I will go and see if I can persuade this TV of mine to pick up ITV and maybe with some luck there might be a repeat of some that have been aired already.

It is the sort of series that shows up in a boxed set after it has finished. I love Martin Clunes too, Tod2

Last night I mentioned the series to my husband and he said Öh its been on already" and to prove that we have watched it before he found it on YouTube and we watched Part 1 - Lord Howes Island etc etc. Tonight we will have a gander at Part 2. I don't know if this is the part that has Tiwi island.

Great! I shall catch up on bits I missed. I saw that Clunes has another series on the islands of America.
