I have fallen in love with this series of country life in Azerbaijan. The beautiful scenery, flowers and vegetables that are harvested by this elderly couple, and their very simple way of life amongst the cutest farm animals ever, make it wonderful viewing. See if you love it as much as I do!

The only thing I know about Azerbaijan is that they make (or made) beautiful Caucasian carpets.

That region was my planned trip for 2020. We all know what happened instead.

It was probably lucky that you didn't go last year, Bixa. There was a war between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

I have started eyeing a trip to Georgia, but I am not happy with the air fares to Tblissi at the moment.

You'll never get "cheap" fares to places like Tbilissi, Yerevan or Baku. Just not enough demand so all you get are flights on regular airlines.

Don't say Tbilissi too loud Kerouac. My son gets excited when he talks about it - has opened a bank account there and wants us all to visit the city. It is one of the few places on earth that South Africans do not need a visa to visit.

I know there was a crazy dictator who built many statues of himself and lots of grandiose infrastructure. Oil fed economy + leader away with the fairies = chaos.
