I should have posted this before the event, but now that it happened last night...
Has any of you taken part in "Earth Hour"?
If you don't know what it's all about, it is an initiative by the WWF, I believe to make one think about our electricity usage, asking people around the globe to turn their lights, and if possible all unnecessary electrical appliances off for one hour. It happens one day a year and many people I know look forward to an hour or an evening of candle-lit family fun such as board games.
We turn everything off at the plug as a matter of course in this house, so I knitted and bf played on the PC (the request is for lights to be turned off, mainly) - we were lit by a series of tealights and our "sunjar" a fab piece of equipment, that you simply leave on a windowsill and it takes light - doesn't need sun and gives it back when it is dark. It can be used inside or outside.

I was going to do it and then I completely forgot when the time came. Thank god that the major municipalities at least turned off the monuments and such. Even though it is symbolic, symbols are important.
