I will start by saying that I absolutely never believe the "best" rankings for anything. The U.S. News & World Report survey purports to have collected the opinons of " 17,000 people across 36 nations" which is meant to impress us, but it's kind of ridiculous. There are certainly not even 17,000 people in the entire world who are qualified to rank countries compared to each other. How much do we know about Iran, Canada or Latvia, really? But people absolutely love to give their opinion, even (or especially) if they are completely ignorant. The best restaurants or the best look on the red carpets are equally ridiculous, but most of us are hooked enough to at least give the lists a look. So here is this one: Best Countries in the World
Actually, I enjoyed taking the little personal quiz in the article, which mercifully has only ten questions ("Find the best country for you."). Weirdly enough, it decided that the best country for me is France.

Only 4 of those would be in my top 10.

I got Italy as my personal "best country" in the quiz, much to my surprise! I didn't expect it to even be in the mix.

Agreed about Wharton. Any school that would graduate an imbecile like Trump is just a diploma mill for the priviliged wealthy. The Ivies generally are also good at that, lots of intellectually lazy, complete dummies from rich families graduate no problem.

So I tried to retake the test so I could see the other countries on my top 5 list. Came up with Switzerland as my #1 this time! And New Zealand wasn’t even in the top ten!

Latvia ! If only for her new PM. Smart looks and looks smart. And young - at least by my standards : 48. Evika Silina.
