Isn't it wonderful (<--irony) that dual nationals are always considered more important than people with one nationality? I admit that I sometimes make a point of travelling with two passports "just in case."

I doubt it is about people with dual nationality being "considered more important" than people with one. In the instance of this particular border crossing, there are probably certain passports that get a person passed through more quickly. One assumes that's why you would travel with both passports.

I have never forgotten the plane hijackings where all of the passengers were forced to surrender their passport and the ones with the wrong nationality were killed first.

Some figures : - 2/3 of Palestiniens left their home - 40% of houses are damaged or destroyed - 3/4 of Palestinians distrust Mahmoud Abbas - 1/2 Palestinians are under age of 20.
Roughly 2000 Israelis died since 7 oct. roughly 12 000 Palestinians died.
Israel has no plan for after the war.
Future looks bleak.

And at this point they've not found that labyrinth of Hamas tunnels under that hospital they swore were there.

I think both the Israelis and Hamas are discredited by now. Hamas for the massacre and hostage taking, the Israeli army for the indiscriminate bombing, the Israeli government for the security lapse, having no plan other than revenge and for not controlling the settlers in the West Bank who are attacking Palestinians and driving them off their land.

I'm wondering if there were ever two peoples who despised each other more. Even during the Balkan war, there was nothing this bad. We would probably have to search Asian history to find anything as bad.

Okay, I went to a demonstration today. In the past week, there were two major demonstrations in Paris -- one against Palestinian suffering and one against antisemitism. This new demonstration was in favour of peace, with no slogans, no banners, no chants, no music. It was silent. This appealed to me. It went from the Institut du Monde Arabe to the Musée d'Art et d'Histoire du Judaïsme. It has been mentioned that most of the heads at these demonstrations have white hair. You can get young people to demonstrate for things like ecology, but not for this. I did notice that quite a few people brought their grandchildren with them. Parents who turn over their children to their own parents on a Sunday are just happy to have time to themselves. I have no idea how many demonstrators were there and I don't care.

Looks a lot calmer than the pro-Palestinian demonstration I saw in London a couple of weeks ago. A lot older too, the two things might be connected. The demonstrators in London were setting off big fireworks at street level near Victoria Station and it felt a little unsafe being close by.

Looks a lot calmer than the pro-Palestinian demonstration I saw in London a couple of weeks ago. The pro-Palestinian march in Paris last week had a few problems as well. The whole point of yesterday's demonstration was to not have any of that, hence the ban of chants, slogans, etc.

Why do I have these feelings that - we will find nothing worthy of attacking the hospital in the basement - Netanyahu does not peace at all - Israel has no plan for after.
Looks to me like Bush’s weapons of mass destruction in Irak.
They are wiping out Hamas and nurturing the next generation of terrorists.

Whatagain is quite right. The Israeli revenge raids are sheer terrorism and can only make the situation worse.
They talk of the 12 tribes of Israel; they are all the Arab nations round about, where we used to call the natives "wogs". That makes Israelis "super Wogs"

With the truce going on I read that 50 Israelis will be released for 150 Palestinians. One Israeli is worth three Palestinians? Why isn't it one for one?

In 2011, Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit was exchanged for 1,027 Palestinian prisoners. Obviously Israelis are worth a lot more than Palestinians.

Or maybe the Israelis are feeling a bit guilty about whom they put in prison.

Demand and offer. Hamas has 'only' 200 something hostages. Israel has thousands of Palestinians in jail.

On the news they explained that Israel has demanded that the media refer to "women and children" when talking about the Israeli hostages, but they must say "women and minors" when talking about the Palestinians.

So, I saw on the news today that the obliteration of Gaza has now passed what happened in Aleppo and Mariupol as the absolutely worst bombing of the 21st century. Is Israel proud?

At the moment, both sides are losing. It's hard to see where it can go from here. Mutual hatred is being reinforced.

Just saw a pic on CNN showing dozens of Palestinians stripped to their boxers made to kneel and bonded. Guarded by IDF soldiers.
Looks distressful. Doesn’t look like a normal way to treat ‘prisoners’.
