Okay, I am about a week late this year. Just like Bixa with Muertos in Oaxaca, after so many years, it is hard for it to feel as fresh as it used to. Nevertheless, it is still nice. I started with Printemps as I usually do because it is closer to where I come out of the metro.
This year birds are in charge of handling Christmas wishes. I don't know if Father Christmas is on sick leave or has been terminated.

Printemps has done better windows for at least the last 3 or 4 years.

Very nice photos and I like the decorations better than what I remember from last year.

I like both equally, for different reasons, but also for one reason which is the same for both. That is, I feel these windows should have a magical feel that appeals to children and which also breaks through the defenses of adults. Both sets achieve this beautifully, while giving what must be satisfying scope to the imagination & skill of the creators.
In that regard I quite agree with Htmb. I remember last year's windows as being somewhat jangly and off-putting -- sort of "creatives" trying too hard & forgetting that it's about the spirit of Christmas, which really should be somewhat sweeter & accessible to everyone.
Beautiful pictures & great video as always, Kerouac.

Thank you for posting these. Six times to Paris but never (yet) at Christmas! I am thinking that Bon Marche would be quite divine.... any possibility of inclusion perhaps next year?? As to "theme" at each, I find that lately I am not so enthused with the ones here in NYC. Bergdorf Goodman still are the best, but alot less spent in accoutrements for the centerpiece garments, so to speak. And Barneys, now closed, was very strange the last few years. We'll see what Saks does and Bergdorf windows are always worth the walk to 59th St for sure. Retail is really challenged these last couple years.

I enjoy Christmas design with birds. My parents always had bird ornaments on our tree.
