Returning to this subject after the 2009 and 2015-2016 editions, you will quickly see that prices have increaed.

That's the typical confusion. Almost nobody eats horsemeat anymore, and you would never see it in a restaurant, but the French language throws foreigners off. A horsemeat steak would be steak de cheval. A steak à cheval is a beef patty with a fried egg on top (riding "horseback" on the meat).

Is it just me or are the upper serifs on French "1"s getting longer? They now seem to frequently start even lower than the downstroke ends.

I'm so used to it that it just looks normal to me even though I have never written them that way myself. My 1s are just one stroke. Some of these do indeed look almost like the Arabic number 8, however.

I have never written my 1s that way either. Nor do I cross my sevens.
I also notice that not many slates mention that it's home cooking. Since it's obligatory to tell customers that the place is using prepared foods, I imagine not mentioning "fait maison" means that the food is not made completely on the spot.

I don't think the daily slates have that obligation. Only the printed menu does. However, I would imagine that most of these items are made at the establishment. It's more the other things that are on the menu every day that come from the wholesalers.
