I have just scrolled back a few pages and can see how quickly our mood has changed. The scientists were so positive and united, the logistics were "up a wattle" (oz speak for confused but functioning...sort of..) and the people generally thought positively about the vaccinations. Then the whispers started, the scientists broke ranks and the people (us) started asking questions.
Just look at the Q&A posts on this page (123) compared with (121). Doubts about when, where and what are being voiced. We have noticed that the Emperor is not wearing his new clothes. With different countries having different needs, the vaccination materials are being treated like some weird currency with a Give, Borrow or Lend system creating activities for the Pharma companies.
Most people just want their jabs to prevent a terrible illness. They also want clear information from a united scientific body, and a much more efficient way of delivering the vaccinations.

Problem with skipping Charles and making William King is that it will limit the time that William has to spend with his family. Elizabeth had her 2nd family to do the working mother experience as she realised that she had hardly had much time with her little ones as she learnt her "Queen" role. Let Wills get to 25years old and Charles to keep the throne warm till then.

Donor countries are often guilty of using charitable organisations to off-load unwanted surpluses or food that has spoiled. In Indonesia's "Year of living dangerously" (1966) drought, terrorists and volcano eruptions led to severe starvation. The citizens of Java sent 'relief' to Bali...not rice or fruit and veg which were desperately needed. but corn. Not edible corn but the harsh corn they feed the animals. More people died from eating this than from any other cause and the Balinese still carry bad feelings for this.

On TV recently...a party of tourists doing the tour through some aristocrat's palace. The guide drew everyone's attention to a "charming" Christmas card standing alone on a small decorated table. Inscribed within was "To the [Bloggs family] from Lilibet and Philip."
I wondered if Hyacinth Bucket (That's Bookay to you) was living there.

Philip had a rough time as a child and an even more ambiguous role as "Mr Queen." Elisabeth will find a big hole in her life now. Just hope that her sons will support her in her grief and not act like the selfish pricks as they usually do... Vale Philip, you may stand down now.

"Keep a diary and one day it will keep you" Mae West.
I had read some autobiographical stories written by nurses and fancied I could do that when I started my Nurse training. Ha! It soon became a collection of non standard abbreviations that I have forgotten the meaning of and a list of shifts worked and rosters for lectures and exams. Years later when working in my own clinics a trade rep gave me a fine bound A4 diary each year, so I started up again. Over time it recorded the arrival of 2 boys and the departure of one spouse and the gradual mismanagement of the organisation when the Government took it over.
It can be summed up as the nurses knew what they had to do, did it well but were never trained in office or personnel management skills, meetings, reports or "The big picture". The dozens of admin staff who appeared in our over crowded offices had no concept of our activities, how long they took and to us, much time wasting. As the senior Managing Nurse we had a person who had no idea of her role and trailed disaster and ineptness wherever she went. It wound up that I was doing both our jobs and the stress was giving me various ailments. It came to a head when in front of the team after a meeting she slapped me, pushing me down a step. I was advised to write down any other times she had upset me...dates, places, witnesses etc. for the Govt Tribunal.
Thanks to Mae I had kept my journal. From it I gleaned 11 fine-written pages of incidents, quotes and information. The Tribunal found in my favour but I was offered a smallish lump sum or ongoing costs for life, which I chose. Five years later the Govt ceased ongoing payments...But by then I'd discovered a restaurant in Bali.

I've seen some in Adelaide! From the North west of the city proper is a wide swathe of Vietnamese suburbs where it is like being in HCM City (without the architecture). I used to walk around there and attend a couple of temples occasionally.
I had no idea what these were. They were small and attached to shopfronts and mostly done in blues and grey tiles. They looked like #30 or the first few posted here. I felt them to be rather menacing...were they connected to some of the gangs that operated in the area? I see that Perth has been "Invaded" so they are spreading here. Some had chisel marks on them and missing tiles...Philistines!

I had a cat called Japhy Ryder (hello K2) who was diagnosed with a hormonal condition when he was 4 months old. Had to have a pill twice a week to control his skin condition. Over the years vets told me that that there were no side effects other than growth. By the time he was 2 he was a metre from nose to tail and weighed just under 10kg. My son's teenaged friends were scared of him, he could look menacing if he was "on alert" mode He was a hunter, but only of big stuff...a hawk, rabbit, big parrot and 2 snakes...all of which got presented to me in the kitchen. Mice were left to our other 2 cats...nimble little mouse catcher and the third ignored hunting altogether.

It really makes a huge difference who you travel with when you go to places like this. I went to Iran with a group of people who were historians, librarians and people who, like me, had read up on Xerxes, Darius, Alex the Great and all the ancient stories for 3000 years. When we got to Persepolis our official "guide" knew he had a handful of people with a genuine interest and we got to see lots more than most visitors. E

Lagatta, It is a folk tale combining lots of different sources and used by early followers to bring some authority to their version out of the scores of itinerant teachers, all with philosophies to teach. With modern forensic capabilities, the story that is taught in Churches can be shown to have more holes than a fishing net and that the stories were mainly to make life happier under Roman rule It is comforting to think that somewhere 'out there' they will meet up with loved ones, If it works for you, go for it. Just live your life with wisdom and compassion. that is the real new life.

I believe their French Bulldog, Lilly, was hot on their heels hoping to grab one for herself! One Easter someone left a box of chocks on a low table. Their dog ate the lot. Quick call to the vet and ...enough to kill it! Family spent the afternoon at the vets pumping out the dog's stomach. Mother laid down the law and what would happen to anyone who left chocs where dog could reach them. The following Christmas day Mother left a box of chocs on the low table...Yep...another vet trip and stomach pump. At $200 per trip, chocolate is banned in their house

Generally the won't attack unless it is rut season and the big chaps are trying to protect their 5-6 wives from a male teenager=camel who thinks he can try his luck. That is one stoopid camel and people who travel the Canning Stock Route sometimes aren't too smart either unless with a group.

Mossie...wash your mouth! The camel must have been designed by a genius...it is so perfectly put together for its environment. Apart from its ability to go 20+ days without water it has big floppy feet to traverse the deep sandy sections or can tighten the foot muscles so there is less heat on the feet on the stony areas.
Its nostrils will close in a strong dust storm and faced with a steep sandhill, it drops onto its front knees and climbs over the hill easily. They have 2 rows of beautiful long eyelashes and a "Third eye lid" to protect the eye in the dust.
Camels are used to cold weather and grow a thick woolly coat for winter and shed some of it in summer, just keeping the wool over the back for insulation from the heat. Camels have developed a split upper lip structure so that each half of their upper lip can move independently, which helps them eat low-lying plants and grasses.
They are fantastic animals and although most people think they are ugly, I love them.

Eighteen is an interesting age. Young men seem to revert to "Warrior" mode and set out to make their mark on the world, for better or worse. What starts as a bit of a wish or a "I wonder what would happen if I..." turns into planning, research and action. I can imagine him thinking that everything turns out more expensive or more difficult than he had planned, but he still persists against the odds.
On the other hand he may do some practical thinking and conclude that the time spent could be better used helping out at a soup kitchen, or helping re-home rescue dogs.At least he isn't still taking his washing home for Mum to wash.
(I haven't watched the vid yet)

Thailand has a problem in that the city, Bangkok, is sinking into the river. The ever-growing middle and upper classes are moving to the outer suburbs to live, many km of traffic jams to get to work / school. I read in a Bangkok newspaper that the typical family wakes very early, and leaves home almost straight away for the 2-3 hour commute. Breakfast is eaten in the car, the kids do their homework, parents make phone calls and business conducted. Toilet stops are not practical so in the shops you could buy properly designed bottles and pans and female funnels. Comfort is achieved and I suppose they have a " clean'n'go " business to take care of the hygiene. www.google.com/search?q=bangkok+urine+bottles&rlz=1C1CHZL_enAU848AU848&oq=Bangkok&aqs=chrome.0.69i59j69i57j69i59j69i60.10764j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

My pantry suffered an invasion of 'pantry moths' a few years ago. All my cereal based foods were affected and I had to go through my containers looking for the larvae or hatching moths every 2-3 days until they were all gone. As my pantry is always over-stocked (Hey, I'm a Cancerian, remember?) it was an expensive exercise.
Could it be that your 'weevils' were pantry moths?
In the era of sail when it took a ship 5-6 months from UK to Oz, all the food supplies had weevils in them. They gave a nutty flavour and were a source of protein for the sailors.

Not to forget that both forms of the name ignore the fact that there are several other language groups
The main ethnic groups living in the seven ethnic minority states of Burma are the Karen, Shan, Mon, Chin, Kachin, Rakhine and Karenni. Other main groups include the Nagas, who live in north Burma and are estimated to number more than 100,000, constituting another complex family of Tibetan-Burmese language subgroups. I prefer the old colonial names simply because I associate them with the poetry and romance of the country.
Same with Saigon in Vietnam. The official name became Ho Chi Minh, then the tourism people recognised that the name "Saigon" had value. They changed to HCM City for the CBD and the older areas are called Saigon.

I sometimes wonder if they managed to correct the malformed features. They can make the child function better...breath, feed etc and as he grows they can enhance his mobility. Plastic surgeons have rebuilt faces and heads and conjoined twins have been separated with success, Children's malformations can be made to look better but never as a normal child would.
