Great picture! Are they going to channel the sea toward the town, then hold the city fathers to ransom by threatening to inundate the business district? Cute. Can I suggest that you peruse this thread, please?

I spent most of Sunday morning building those bloody dams !
But yes, I need to look at that other thread. I'm very conscious of the size-ability of pics ....
Will report back soon. I promise.

That's a great action picture. Lovely children. You didn't put wellies on your little boy! He must have had wet, cold feet.
I like the idea of chanelling the water. You all must have had a lot of pleasure doing that. Was there only one spade?

Beautiful photo G. Reminds me of my childhood, although beachwear trends have clearly made a dramatic swing. Not a crinoline in sight.

I like the photo, but I can't imagine that it really took you half of Sunday morning to build those dams unless you had to carry the rocks from 5 miles away.

What about the delta part that you were too lazy to do? A half-done job, mate!

I like this photo. Is the short child with the blonde curls your son? The one that was your avatar (once upon a time) who looked like a plump beautiful rennaissance angel?

Yeah, that's him J.
K; when I referred to Sunday morning, I was really talking about the civilised bit between 9am and 12am, and seeing as how we spent at least an hour and a bit on the beach, that constitutes almost half in my book !
Spinny; Master G would have wet cold feet if he'd worn wellies anyway; he's a demon for getting amongst the water.

At least he's a normal child then! I hate kids who can remain pristine and dry on a beach. Jesus!

That's a relief, better than having to remain pristine. I shudder when I recall how many grass stains I tried to camouflage. My brothers would get off scotfree because they were just "being boys".

It's a chinese silk dress thingy she got in Chinatown last year. Nice, but it hardly goes with her leather boots .....

I practically pamper you as it is!
So ~~ back to the beach for Easter weekend? Or will it be, "Not now, kids. Daddy is busy learning how to resize photos"?
Gyro, that beach looks pretty deserted. Does it get thronged on holidays?
I can think of a couple of other people here who also grew up within walking distance to a beach. Does that automatically turn people into beach and water lovers?

The beach does get busy when it's nice but it's never thronged. Not like some of the Med beaches etc.
Yeah, we were in almost the same spot yesterday - building an island and a bridge this time - and then went down on the wet sand and the rockpools by the shores edge. It was a beautiful day yesterday, and we all caught a little of the sun.
You can tell it's Spring today too; the rain is warmer ....

Thats a lovely picture, what a pair of cuties. And your daughter has amazing style, a chinese silk dress when carrying out engineering works on the beach is to be admired. I saw a young lady in a similiar outfit when we went to lambing day on the farm yesterday and I thought of this picture!
