Why oh why did I accumulate so much stop and why did mum encourage me to bring more of my stuff over here For the love of God, I don't know how to start packing in this house and even less do I know how to move everything. 150kg was wishfull thinking....I'll have more than that. And I still don't know what to do with the lovely oversized framed pictures.... Aaaarrrrghhhh!

I'm checking out the BA website now for their excess luggage rates...75GBP for a 32kg bag and a max of 10 bags. That is 320kg and calms me down but not my bank account.
Spend all afternoon decluttering and have a huge pile of papers, a pile of books and a big bag of clothes that will go. Most of my household goods are given away, just need to be picked up. It is still beyond me HOW I can fit the rest e.g. my life in a few bags.
If the lovely bf dares to suggest moving within the next 5 years I'll shoot him. And I better like Reno.

Siduri, why don't you send a package via post? would that be cheaper than excess baggage? and take a hard look at all the items that you can replace. guess it is too late to plan some place in a container for your things to travel by sea? Any hope in hell of leaving some behind at safe friends and pick them up at a later date?

You need to contact some shipping agents, even if the shipping takes 2 months. As long as you are not in a hurry for certain items, the rates are good.

Yes, you MUST contact a shipping agent. Don't pay to send it by air.

Reno? You'll be really close to Tahoe, it's gorgeous there in winter. And you can visit San Francisco, it's about 3.5 hrs.

Yep, Reno as in Nevada :-) Welle, I went to Lake Tahoe and I loved it!!
Ok, mailing is not an option. Believe it or not but that is more expensive than the excess luggage. Shipping from Turkey is also not cheap. I'll call a shipping agent, but I'm just in the wrong place to ship cheap, that's a fact.
After a relaxing night out at the movies I have more energy now to tackle this. First thing I need to sort out now is my residence permit so I can leave hassle free, then my ears cause the still hurt and then dental care. Enough reasons to procratinate the packing...

Good luck with today's challenges Siduri. You are doing great, we are here to bounce ideas, vent, scream, yell and at the end of it all, pop champagne to celebrate with you.

Siduri, my son is in Las Vegas. He's there because of his work, but he loves the countryside, the mountains, the relatively easy access to national parks, to California, etc. etc. He loves Lake Tahoe, too.

When a friend moved from Chile back to Europe, she somehow got LanChile to waive the excess baggage fee and the fee for taking her cat. In her case, I think looking like a model was the key since the employees at the office were mostly male.

Too bad I don't look like a model! Swiss Airlines was once so 'friendly' to drop the fees...after the self-checkin I dropped the bags and the guy there must have thought my dad was also flying. He didn't realise both suitcases were mine...lucky me, cause Swiss charges a fortune.
One thing that's really great at the moment: I MET AN ANGEL!! I really did. One of the women who wanted lots of things from my flat has for some reason decided that she's going to take care of my papers. She rocks and is going out of her way to find out everything, will take me to immigrations, etc. etc. She even has connections in Immigrations and is using them. I feel pretty happy now! The thought of going there on my own was just dreadfull. (It's Immigrations, but you won't find anyone in there who speaks a foreign language, so go figure)
