A friend recently started a new job, been there 6 months. The working conditions are really shitty, the boss is a complete and total arse, has fuck all people skills. Boss screams and swears, is being sent on an anger management course, but is quite proud of this. Place is a pigsty, maggots found in the kitchen the other day. Get the picture?? Well, this friend has never been at a job for less than 10 years before, now this little 6 month blimp. He is sending out his CV and people are asking the question, why does he want to move after 6 months. What should he say? He does not want to diss his current employer, but we have not been able to find a good reason for him leaving after 6 months.

He could say that he was employed to work on a particular project (insert details of impressive sounding project) at the start with the promise of similiar work to follow. He can say that the project has finished and he is now coasting doing work that isn't interesting or stretching him and it looks like it will be a year or so until a similir project comes up and he can't hang around that long. Obviously embellishing the story depending on the type of work he does. It is one I have used myself and so has Mrstar and you can actually make it sound very impressive and postive

Thank you Tilly, that is very helpful and in fact, a little true, his boss does not want to transfer info so he is now giving him a lot of menial tasks to do.

Or he could say the job wasn't what he had expected/been led to believe and it's not going to change?
