*Waves* Hi-eeeee, Sasseeee. Nope, everything seems to be fine. I don't know anyone who has the flu, nor even anyone who knows anyone else who has it. I reported here on my trip to town yesterday (reply #6). Laughing aside, I am being careful. At the moment, I am avoiding any non-packaged food, except for uncut produce. I've always been a little psycho about hand-washing, so maybe that's kept me healthy so far. Thanks for asking. How are you?

Is it seriously big news in Europe or South Africa (I know America and of course Mexico have been hit)? I don't see that much of it on the internet site I read normally and over here people aren't that worried. In fact it looks like people are just as concerned about giving the virus the right name as preventing its spread! I agree with Gyro about not catching it from pork. I heard none of the Americans who contracted it had even been near pigs.

I always wonder if some of these stories aren't over-emphasized when there is little exciting news to report.

What, are you saying the media is hyping something up to make people listen and make themselves feel self-important by creating negative sensationalism ?
I DON'T believe it ........

Thank god you brought me to my senses! Of course, the media is far too responsible to ever engage in anything like that.

It remains one of the top three news stories in France; it gets juggled around depending on whether they can whip up some other items from time to time. It is mostly being called "Mexican flu" now in order to stop incriminating the pork industry.
