well since yesterday after work my lips are feeling strange. not sure how to describe it - a bit like i had been eating something sour or spicy, except without the taste or stinging.
it doesn't really bother me, i am just a bit confused what could have caused it, so i thought maybe you have some suggestions. all the things i ate yesterday were normal things i eat regularly, so an allergic reaction seems unlikely to me.

Oh, from the title of the post, I thought I was going to read something about Angelina Jolie.

Did you have Chinese food? Sichuan pepper makes your whole mouth numb. It's not even related to 'piper whatever' and I found out the hard way.

I had a bizarre' strange lip 'episode happen to me one time. I woke up with a Carly Simon lower lip(this was before Angelina was even born so I refuse to credit her). Anyway,I have no idea what caused it except perhaps stress. I had a date with someone I had a crush on for a very long time so I went into panic mode, ice, benadryl, the whole nine yards.Eventually went away along with the crush on the guy. Never did figure out what caused it.

Don't you love it when the whole forum just sort of comes together?! We have actress, musician, clinical, and food references. To add to the Sichuan reference above:

well while i like most things pickled, i hope no one mistakes my lips for pig lips and tries to pickle them.
they feel a bit better now, though today i started also getting a slightly torn corner of the mouth. though i have that more often...

Rikita ~~ any chance you have a vitamin B deficiency? Stress could cause that, & I believe you're juggling school and a job, aren't you?

I guess that an offer to "kiss them better" is pretty much redundant now?

Rikita, have you been drinking enough ? It happened to me a couple of years ago and my doc asked me if I had enough to drink... I didn't ! Went away after I've drank lots of water. I never drink enough water.

... what things does one get vitamin b from? www.netfit.co.uk/vit3.htmGoogle "sources of vitamin b" for many more articles. Do you take a multi-vitamin? That's a good way to make sure you're covered. And what Happy said -- drink water!!! Even though the symptoms are going away, take them as a wake-up call to take better care of yourself.

well not taking multi-vitamins, don't really take vitamins at all, but rather try to get them through food...

Af first I thought that Bixa had written that Google was a source of vitamin B. If that were the case, I would be dead from a vitamin B overdose.

hehe well then i should google a bit every day... well, i tried to drink more today, and my lips feel almost normal. i did by mistake drink a bit of water from a bottle with a bit of mold in it (the bottle was standing on the floor next to my bed, and i thought it is the juice bottle i just finished last night, so i filled some water into it to drink it). i noticed quite quickly and spit the water back out, but had a strange feeling on my tongue... oh well... distracts from the lips anyway.
