Battered? Plants are designed to survive, and battering just makes us admire them even more when they recover from "incidents."

Lugg the hellebores are the result of years self seeding around the garden. I planted 3 about 25 years ago and often dig up plants to give away, just keeping the ones I like. They are very promiscuous and I grow on seedlings to see what they will turn into. The double hellebore (pic 4) and the dark pink (pic 1) are 2 of the original plants..they're starting to lose vigour so I may replace them soon.

Actually the third Daff is my favourite but the picture doesn’t do it justice. It’s a variety called Sailboat and is really beautiful.

All the pictures on this page and previous one are dazzling. You all can't imagine how much I'm enjoying all those glorious, early Spring, cooool weather flowers. They're so fresh, crisp, clean and brave. This is the hottest part of the year here, so seeing the beauties you all are showing as they emerge and put on their shows is really refreshing. In my yard, the old faithfuls are faithfully flowering ~

That last picture is a beauty. Amaryllis?

Thanks, Mick. These came from a woman who said, "You have to have these." when she gave me the bulbs. That was over 15 years ago & they have bloomed reliably every since, even though they've always been in a pot.

We had extremely reliable amaryllis in Mississippi when I was little. They were a delight every spring.

Beautiful beautiful Bixa, Mick and Lugg! Although it's not spring but autumn down here, my garden is putting out flowers that attract butterflies and yesterday I must have countered a dozen or so. I know the blue flowers are Plumbago and the lilac and white ones are Salvia but haven't a clue about the yellow ones.

I was pleased to see someone holding a big bunch of daffodils when I came out of the metro. They were clearly from a garden and not at all from the florist. I just hope they were not from a public park.

Mick, so many pretty and different daffodils. Are daffs your second love? Plant love, I mean.
Do you remember the names of the second one and the last one? #2 has such a delicate pink and they both have the colors I've been looking for.

Very lovely - particularly the pink one. Never seen any other colours only yellow - up until now.

Those are beautiful, Mick, and picture-perfect healthy, too. The color combinations within the flowers are luscious. I love that bright yellow one in the background of the first picture, with its deep orange trumpet, all of the "frilled" ones, and like Breeze, I'm knocked out by #2 and the last one.

It would be nice if daffodils and jonquils would bloom through the entire warm season. But I suppose we would appreciate them less.

Gorgeous! I can almost smell the Spring air from those pictures. That daffodil is subtle and exquisite. Love the blue muscari followed by the crisp white quince flowers.
