It's a small flower?! It looks rather large in your picture. Just looked it up, as I'm not familiar with Anagallis at all. I see one of them is known as the Scarlet Pimpernel -- live & learn!

Tod, if you buy hydrangea paniculatas or oak leaf hydrangeas, you will have white flowers. They sometimes turn pink or red later in the season, but start off white.

I completely missed seeing Mick's post of July 15. Beautiful flowers & I love how the white hydrangeas in that tall pot give a feeling of secluded coolness. What are the white bells arising from the plant that sort of looks like society garlic? Happy petunias, Mick, and great pots. Okay ~ I will now do some thread hogging, because I'm pretty excited about this bloom. I got this Stanhopea tigrina maybe three months ago and the vendor kept telling me to be careful about the bud. Well, it was a barely visible green nub just peeking out of the ugly orchid medium in the overly robust cage. I hung it on a hanging pot containing hoya and waited. The bud finally got bigger this month & stayed the same size & color (pale beige) for quite a while. But then, on July 24 & 26 ~ Just went out & looked to see if that final recurved petal had opened out. It has not, but the waxy yellow sections are now a deep golden orange.

The whole thing, as seen in picture #3, is wider than my hand held horizontally.

Oh my gosh that is awesome!! Reminds me a little of those little seahorses that almost look like a plant. I see you Hoya is also blooming. Mine hasnt put any buds out for a few months now - suppose because its winter here.

I wanted to mention the pansies but I didn't dare out of appearing ignorant. That's ridiculous since I almways appear to be ignorant.

Our little cherry tree is blooming about 6 months early. Whereas it must be nice to be enjoying the blossoms now, is the early blooming because of stress from all the changeable weather you had this past year?

"Enjoying the blooms" is perhaps overkill, since it's a very small tree. It didn't grow for several years, then we moved it last year and it gave about 12 cherries which the blackbirds got to before we did.
We didn't have a terrible summer. A lack of rain certainly but only a few days where it was really hot, unlike a lot of other places. And the area stayed green.
I think everything is just becoming strange with all the changes in the climate. It is supposed to be 30° again at the end of the week, not normal for the end of September.

I will always have a special place in my heart for dahlias because they were my grandfather's pride and joy at the end of summer.

I thought you had planned to remove all the roses? Only the little diseased ones in the small beds by the front path.
