Well, that says it really. I am looking for a really innovative recipe for poaching pears. Ideas?

Innovative? I didn't think there were a whole lot of different ways to poach a pear. Of course, there are probably a number of ingredients that you could add to the poaching solution.

OK, nitpicker K. Poaching is poaching. So, what ingredients are possibilities?
My idea is to have a tart base, cover it in thick chocolate sauce, lay the poached pears thinly sliced on top, and glaze with the reduced cooking liquid. So I want interesting and appropriate ingredients for the poaching.

I have an old reciepe I used to use a lot for dinner party's. It has White or Red wine , cloves, cinnamon and lemon rind . Not sure how it will go with chocolate . My freinds likes them. I will post in 'RECEIPES'.

I barely know how to poach an egg, I confess. Fruit, I have never done.

I think Kerouac doesn't much like fruit.

Sort of true. I definitely don't like to have to do extra things to fruit before eating it, although I have been known to bake apples maybe 3 or 4 times in my life.
