Doesn't the French Open begin this weekend? K2,are you seeing more then the usual influx of visitors to your fair city?

Yes indeed, it does start this weekend, but it doesn't even make a dent in the visitor figures.
Things like the Foire de Paris (the annual Paris Trade Fair) which just ended last weekend draw in much bigger crowds, not to mention the seasonal fashion events.

I saw a bookmaker today who was offering 2-1 on anyone other than Nadal to win the Men's singles. I put on £20!!!

I think that Nadal can easily lose this year. Maybe not to Federer but to one of the others -- there are often surprises at the French Open.

very likely that he will win again since my hard earned money is riding against him this year. I expect him to breeze through with some ease.

So, Nadal broke a record , and Federer won effortlessly against Spain's boy. Will be interesting.

These first two days, everybody had to suffer through a sudden heat wave. But tomorrow temperatures are supposed to drop from 28° to 18° with big thunderstorms coming through -- the players just might get the day off anyway if it rains...

Maybe France will follow England's suit and get one of those new retractable roofs. Who pays for those things anyway?

Josselin Ouanna against Marat Safin was a truly exceptional match!

France only has one player left going into the quarter finals, Gaël Monfils.

But he's out now.

Federer deserves to win the French Open at last. I think the French public was rooting more for Federer than Monfils yesterday.

I, of course, keep my fingers crossed for Roger. And I think he has a pretty good chance now that Nadal is out.

I had to suddenly rush back to the internet when I realized that I did not yet know if Roger Federer was qualified for the final. I had been watching it intensely on "France 2" but at 8 p.m. when it flipped over to "France 3" I stayed on France 2 to see the nightly news (since we're still wondering what the fuck happened to that Air France plane and also we have 'issues' with Sunday's European elections that need to be resolved).
Thank god he squeaked through. And if he does not win at last this year, I may not be able to forgive him.

Yes. Women's final on Saturday. Men's final on Sunday.

I imagine that Federer is feeling more pressure to win now that Nadal will not be waiting in the Final. Almost as if it is this time or not at all? I would love him to do it.

Yes, that's sort of the way I feel about it, too -- if Federer doesn't win the French Open this year, he never will.

I have a sneaky feeling that he will not do it.

Well, at least we already know that a Russian will win the women's final.

A different Russian won from the one they had planned!

I was pleased that the better player won actually. Safina obviously is just a hardcourt slugger. It was almost funny to see how immobile she is. Possibly the worst No1 ranked player I have ever seen.
