I prefer it to Erdinger as well. Did you know Bavarians sometimes throw a slice of lemon into the glass? Don't know what that's all about but I'm not Bavarian.

That's the heffe weisen, which is cloudy. It's nice, but not as refreshingly zingy as the Kristal Klar. And yes, I always drop a chunk of lemon in the Kristal. I also have a few Dunkels left (the dark version, unsurprisingly..)

If you go there and have time go to Kloster Andechs (Andechs monastery)! Great on a Summer day. Don't drink too much though or you'll roll down the hill. Or do you know it already? It's on the Ammersee (lake).

No, don't know it. We're off mainly for the Oktoberfest in September, so probably woon't stray outside of Munchen. Will try to fit in a tour of the Erdinger brewery though.

The brewery tour should be worth it. Beers tasted directly at the brewery always seem to taste better.
I visited the local Tiger beer brewery here a couple of weeks ago and we tried the whole range, Anchor, Tiger and ABC (a stout). While I will normally not order a stout in a bar, the ABC was actually quite good and in fact I had a couple last night.

Oh yeah, well they SHOULD taste better then bottled anyway, shouldn't they ?

I remember way back in 1989, our visit to the Heineken brewery was the BEST lager I'd ever had in my life.

(it also helped that, because it was my mates birthday, we got unlimited refills ..... )
