I'm assuming that there is no good candy, so don't try to pretend that there is.
Which bad candy do you prefer?
I like:
1. super sour jawbreaker type things 2. licorice 3. gummi bears that are not green 4. hard nougat 5. cinnamon red hots (hard to find these days probably because most of the chemicals have been banned)
That's just for a start. Unfortunately, I almost never eat candy because I am too reasonable.

1. Licorice 2. sour gummi bears or worms 3. Crystallized ginger 4. Dark chocolate 5. Never cinnamon red hots. (Not necessarily in that order.) 6. Preserved candied orange, lemon or grapefruit peels, by themselves or better, covered with dark chocolate. How about dark chocolate covered preserved ginger? 7. I HATE anything with malted milk powder in it, all day caramel suckers (in fact, my taste for caramel is very limited), "honeycomb candy" ; fondant centers, urkkk. I could go on, but I'll be nice. ;D Oh, just one more: Tootsie Rolls Aaaaaaarrrrrrghhhhh! Worse, the lollypop with the tootsie center.

Oh god, how could you ever mention Kandy Korn unless somebody started a bad bad bad candy thread? Why not those horrible mushy 'banana' (?) slice things while you're at it? Ewwww.

Oh no ~~ candy corn is merely bad bad bad. "Circus Peanuts" are about as vile as anything meant to be put in the mouth could possibly be. www.spanglercandy.com/spangler/products/circuspeanuts.phpWARNING: read the above with one eye closed. It's bad enough looking at the picture, but there is a >>>shudder<<< recipe for something even viler below it.

OMG, I have never heard of that, but it is definitely a variation of the banana slices horrors.
Meanwhile:
I like caramel. And jelly beans (which have no redeeming qualities, that's for sure).

I don't like anything too chewy -- not caramel, not "gummi" anything (full body shudder).
Love anything licorice flavored, especially jelly beans.
Oooh -- bridge mix!
I would kill for some peanut brittle.
York Peppermint Patties.
Malted milk balls.
Heath bars.
Mounds.
I hasten to add that I NEVER buy candy. Better not to have it in the house.

The pic K2 posted on one of the Paris threads, of all those gummi things, got to me. I've ordered a kg of that from my sister. Apart from anything gummi (except licorice and marschmallowy stuff) I like chocolate bars. Milky Way, Snickers, Raider, Mars.
I don't like dark chocolate so I'm not a fan of chocolate mints.

I'm not tempted by any candy as a rule. However I am intrigued by Bixa's "mounds" and I would like her to post a photo of them.

Can't you get palanquetas de cacahuates (peanut brittle planks) o de pepitas (pumpkin, sesame and peanuts seeds in brittle.) in Xoxo, Bixa? They are very common around here. We even have an itinerant sweets vendor come to our gate. You may have all my malted milk balls. Heath bars are pretty good, but have too much salt. Doña C sometimes makes Enlish toffee for Christmas gfts, if we don't eat it first. A mi no me gusta los jelly beans. I like licorice, chewy and floppy.

varies... all of it really...
mon cheri (chocolate covered cherries with alcohol) cadbury wunderbar the brown and the white ones from haribo colorado all kinds of chocolate, but there are varying favourites (for a while it was milka mousse au chocolat, for a while milka caramel, for a while ritter sport rum-raisin-nuts etc.) some of the varying gummi things you buy by the piece in kiosks (i guess i drive the sales people crazy when i go there like a little kid, demanding "three of these, and three of these, and two of these and one of these etc.") various sour gummi things licorice bounty (chocolate covered coconut stuff) etc. etc. etc.

I crave cinammon red hots, but those chemical marvels are becoming difficult to find in the U.S.

Cinnamon Red Hots are well stocked at my local store. I saw these this morning and thought of this thread. Apologies for the photo quality, as all I had was my cell phone camera. Personally, I prefer the Lemonheads on the upper shelf, but I was able to restrain myself. Even if they were on sale for $1 per box.

I've had braces on my teeth for a year and a half now, so I'm not supposed to eat most of the candy described on this thread. Nothing chewy like jellybeans, or hard like lemon drops. :-#
Luckily I really don't care for most candy unless it's chocolate, and I can eat that.
[Mind you, the orthodontist said no tortilla chips and that only lasted a couple of days. I'm not giving them up!]

Does that say "theatre candy"? Does it make you run up on stage and start doing things now?

Speaking of bad candy... Anyone here ever heard of candy raisins? We had them all the time when I was growing up. I was amazed later in life to meet so many people who have never heard of them. I think they are pretty local to the midwest US. I wish I could share some with you all, because it's hard to describe their taste. I have heard their taste described as gingery, but also as flowery, soapy, or like earl grey tea... Most people either love them or hate them. I kind of like them, but I did grow up on them. My mom keeps sending me petitions to sign because they always seem to be threatened with being discontinued. Yet, I still see them around all the time. www.savethecandyraisins.com/?p=6

I remember raisinettes (urp! ) but I have never heard of candy raisins. Are they grown on the same farm as kandy korn?

Oh. This is a person who eats gummi bears (spew!), but is scathing about raisinettes?! Raisinettes are yummy and sort of like real food.
I feel the need to try candy raisins. Never heard of them, but anything described as gingery or tasting of Earl Grey tea needs my attention.

Uh Oh, bixa... I've tried a few websites but they all say that the candy raisins are unavailable at this time or out of stock. I guess I should have signed the petition.

I can only say one pleasant thing about Gummi stuff. It's a little memory of my son when he was really small. We were all walking down the street and he was in front, skipping and hopping with the gummi bears he had in his parka pockets bouncing out like something in a cartoon.
