Hi All, I know I have not been around much but I thought some of you would like to see the memory quilt that I had made from some of Brian's clothing. It was Kimby who suggested it to me, and I am so glad that she did because now I have this piece of artwork to hold onto. I have already become like a 2 year old with her "blankie" img21.imageshack.us/img21/4365/1004239u.jpg[/img] img41.imageshack.us/img41/6757/1004237.jpg[/img]The attention to detail on the quilt is amazing, she has used labels, pockets, buttons etc. to finish off the quilt. It even has a label on the back, but I am not comfortable posting it on a public forum because it has full names, dob and dod etc. But a very professional touch.

That looks great, Palesa. I suppose it would not be incorrect to surmise that blue was a favourite colour! I can't even imagine how much work went into it.

Absolutely exquisite, Palesa! What incredible skill and sense of color and design went into putting that together. I can't imagine a lovelier, more intimate way to feel close to your dear husband. Thanks for showing it.
For those who may not know -- Any Port was inaugurated at the beginning of February. Palesa was one of the people who generously and imaginatively helped launch it. However, on March 11 she suffered the loss of her husband to an automobile accident. Understandably, she has not been around very much since then, but is known and appreciated here.

Palesa, This is a beautiful quilt and a wonderful memory of your husband. I am a quilter (on occasion) and really think its an amazing way to celebrate our memories.
I am so very sorry for your loss of Brian. I know the quilt isn't a replacement, obviously; but it is a lovely and intimate history of him, for you. Thank you so much for sharing this very personal part of your life.

Thank you!! It is indeed a very very precious gift.
Yes, Kerouac, blue was Brian's favourite colour.
When we met he had 5 white 100% cotton shirts, 4 blue shirts and a few t-shirts and lots of ties!!! He only wore white shirts to work and the blue shirts were for weekends.
I slowly introduced some colour into his wardrobe, but the only got worn when the was nothing else to wear.
Intersting that I seem to have also gravitated to his blue shirts for the creation of this quilt, not at all a conscious decision, I was to raw and too numb to really be able to make decisions like that.

What a wonderful quilt, Palesa. It's beautifully made. It is the best possible way for Brian to still keep you warm
