Are you familiar with the Uncle Remus stories with Brer Rabbit, Brer Fox and Brer Bear? Walt Disney turned them into an animated movie (now infamous for being politically incorrect) called “Song of the South.” The Tar Baby was a trick to catch Brer (Brother) Rabbit by fooling him into slapping an insolent little black child that was actually a decoy made of gooey tar, thereby getting his paws entrapped in the tar. It was a clever and very funny scene, but alas, we can’t laugh at things like that anymore. A Drosera traps its victims much in that way, without the dialog.

Thanks for that Kimby. Now I've read it, it does ring the vaguest of bells.

Two beauties I've never seen in real life. How does the Stapelia smell?

Fortunately very little smell at all.

Those plants pretty much define the will to survive & reproduce! Here is the status of my A.potatorum. The original flower stalk is a good 8' tall. But look at this little surprise I found this morning. It's the skinny asparagus-looking thing just right of center ~

This Epiphyllum somethingorother often blooms behind my back. But I've been monitoring the buds & caught two flowers early this overcast morning ~

What does the foliage of that Ceropegia look like?

Maybe not, but it goes nicely with the flower. Ceropegias are fascinating.
Loved your little Huernia, too.

That's not really fair. We have very different gardening climates and I'm sure you love your plants as much as I do. I have pretty much all day to fuss over them but you have a house to run.

I continue to be knocked out by this Adenium and hope with time and judicious pruning it will develop a better form. In the meantime, the flowers continue to delight ~

That Adenia flower is stunning. Wish mine would even put some leaves out! That particular one, which was bought in flower this year & later repotted, has been bad about dropping leaves. When it was almost bald a couple of weeks ago I pruned it pretty hard. I stuck the prunings into dry soil & kept them in bright shade under cover of the carport. We had a hard, windy rain that soaked their little pots & the cuttings lost no time in rotting. On the bright side, I see that some of the pruned branches are putting out leaves. That's a wonderful little stink flower, and indeed as dark as can be.
