Wonderfully captured, Htmb. Love that bokeh effect and the way our eyes are drawn right to his sharp little black ones. The subtle colors are not only beautiful, they also point up how perfect his plumage functions as camouflage.

Thank you, Bixa. I wish I could say I coordinated that effect, but the opportunity happened suddenly and he was out at the limits of my zoom lens. It was a lucky capture, for sure.

Well, at this age he's only drinking mum's milk. But she can do some damage. We have a fenced 1,500 square feet. The rest of the 10 acres is fair game for the deer and bunnies.
I'm sure I'll curse them one day, but right now I just adore them to bits. They are so gentle.

A lot of them are infected with trichonosis, so we won't be having any lapin any time soon. But there are a lot out there, yes.

I was extremely surprised to see numerous bunnies hopping around and nibbling the grass in Square Alexandre Parodi at Porte Maillot. Holes in the earth revealed their burrows. As we know, rabbits multiply at a rate of knotts....better go and see if any new bunny babies are evident :

Our bunnies do not burrow, they appropriate existing structures, like our woodpiles. They do breed like rabbits, but we have owls, eagles, hawks and coyotes which are doing their best to keep the population in check.

As we know, rabbits multiply at a rate of knotts....better go and see if any new bunny babies are evident : I haven't seen them at Porte Maillot but I know for years you could see hundreds of hares hopping around the runways of CDG airport while your plane was taxiing into position. A hunt was even organised from time to time, because they make pretty big burrows and could therefore damage the borders of the runways. I haven't seen them for a few years so I hope that they were just given food to sterilise them and were not simply poisoned.

I probably wouldn't have seen him if he hadn't jumped out of the path and on to the leaf - it was the movement that caught my eye. He's sitting on a foxglove - they are the bane of my existence, but he seems to suit them well.

The girls, tiny stuffed rabbits in hand, went hunting for live rabbits on the other side of the sinkhole and darned if they didn't find one.
