wow, how did you ever get so close to a croc, htmb.?
You're such a brave lady. Great photo.
(we get a lot of frogs and toads around here, it's interesting watching them evolve from dots in jelly to a fully grown frog)

It's an alligator on Paynes Prairie and, while I was close, I wasn't as close as it looks. Just about gave one of my daughters a fit though. The rest of my children haven't seen the picture.

He's just waiting to get his nose rubbed by htmb. I'm sure he'd prefer a belly rub.

Exquisite, Rikita! Where did you take the picture? That is a good one, Rikita. I'm curious too as to where you took this.. not in the wild, admittedly, but in a zoo in berlin.

That is one good capture, htmb! Poor little frog though.
Kerouac, really like that pic of the man with the birds. Very sweet.

Oh my gosh, Htmb -- wonderful picture! What patient hovering you must have been doing to catch that. Were you standing on a walkway? Just fabulous.

Thank you. I have a habit of treading softly on the entry boardwalk to Paynes Prairie because you never know what you will come up on. I happened to see the heron, which has been featured in many of my photos, as it stalked something in the bushes about three meters below where I was standing. Next I heard screaming sounding like the shriek of a baby bird, except it was coming from the large frog. The heron flew over to a log and began bashing the frog's body against it. I can honestly say it was pretty disturbing, but I just tried to focus on the photography and forget about the reality of the rest. I have a few other photos, so maybe I will post them in the PP thread.

Fab shots Kerouac! Can you tell us where you took them?
Great action as well htmb! Those Herons are fast aren't they!
Deyana - is the little birds beak really green or is that my imagination!

Kerouac if you want to see wild-life for yourself, just take a visit to the countryside. You know where I am.
