That's what we were thinking! Apparently they look for every little bit of green they can find. And there's very little 'green' in Oman in February!

Damn things will eat anything, even stones. They must be second cousins twice removed, of the ostrich...

Our place was crawling with deer this weekend. I missed the shot of the mamma and fawn.

Just caught up with over 2 years of photos and then went back even further - actually this whole thread is such a treat from little to large , exotic to commonplace. This is a photo of a very unglamorous animal but increasingly rare in the UK so I was very excited to see this one in my garden a few weeks ago. It seems to have taken up residence much to my dog's displeasure, ( particularly noticeable when it becomes more active in the early hours of the morning and Zeb wakes me to let me know there is an intruder.) www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2016/sep/14/why-have-hedgehogs-declined-googleI did sit and wait for a short time , but it refused to uncurl, so I left it in peace

Lugg, those are really nice pictures, and Lizzy, your picture of the deer is great, too! I know what deer eat, but what would a hedge hog be looking for in your garden?

Thanks Htmb - they eat a wide range of invertebrates such as worms, beetles, slugs, caterpillars, earwigs and millipedes. Also fallen fruit and carrion baby birds, mice and frogs etc . When I was a child we used to leave bread and milk for our visitors now this is known to be wrong - easiest thing to feed them on is dog / cat food – chicken in jelly is a favourite but not meat in gravy or now you can buy hedgehog food in garden centres .

Out in my garden this morning something rustled close to me, and startled me. It was this little fellow. After a while I managed to get him/her to pose for me

Since my dear dog, Angel, passed away, we've had more than our fair share of wild life who now find it safer to be around us and the house. Here are a couple that seem to hang around here. Well them and their family and friends. A resident ground hog: And this very nonchalant and easy going Racoon: Peek-a-boo?

Indeed. Mossie is an excellent photographer and he has proved it many times over with his photo reports. A bit of humour is always welcome.

A bit of humour is always welcome. It is. I'll think of a 'funny' image to put up on here for next time I'm sure it'll be very welcome.
