You know the kind, they may be a little naff, a little silly, but they make you smile. or bring back a certain memory or just simply make you want to dance and just act like a goof. ;D Blondie - Dreaming. This was one cool chic

As a child, I loved the 'Purple People Eater' song, whatever it was.

I know the one you mean K.
It also reminds of that Barney song my kids used to like - 'I love you, you love me, we are family'.
Here's one I can associate with (for some reason ;D)
Gretchen Wilson - Redneck Woman:

Rock Lobster by the B52's is one of my favorite goofy songs. I never saw the video until just now, but it's suitably silly, too.
My memories of the song involve dancing at parties in dorms in college. 50 or 60 of us packed together dancing down low when he sings "down", "down", "down"... Then jumping up and being all crazy again. Good times.

The b52's were great at making delightful silly songs weren't they?

I love Jonathan Richman. His first band, The Modern Lovers, were fantastic and he was just 17 years old when he joined.
My Mrs. is always introducing me to various French artists from her youth and today I learned about Boney M. Fun and frivolous they certainly are.

Just about anything by the band Green Jello (who were sued by Jello, the makers of the gelatinous substance, for copyright infringement and changed their name to Green Jelly) would fit in this category.

I love Jonathan Richman. His first band, The Modern Lovers, were fantastic and he was just 17 years old when he joined. I never used to miss a single gig of Jonathan Richman in Paris. But since the early years I have missed quite a few and was particularly horrified to find out a week or two ago that I had missed him at the Flèche d'Or in April. Of course, being from Boston, you are supposed to support him anyway.

Yes, actually my Mrs. told me they were German but I had forgotten. I wasn't sure if I should post Daddy Cool or Rasputin but there's just something so bizarre about the whole concept of Rasputin as the motif for a dance/pop tune that I went with it. I've seen Jonathan in Boston on a few occasions and exchanged a few words with him at the bar (but not the lesbian bar). I am bummed you mentioned I missed him a few weeks ago in Paris.

Lio (real name Vanda Maria Ribeiro Furtado Tavares de Vasconcelos) is a Belgian singer of Portuguese origin and has made an incredible career of comic songs and serious dramatic roles in the movies.
This song more or less translates to "Brunettes must not be disregarded compared to blondes."

would you agree, for those who know them, that most songs by "Les Negresses vertes" would fit in this thread?
