I'm waiting to see how well Jo-Wilfried Tsonga fares.

I'm glad to see Nadal playing well, though I didn't get to watch today.
Also nice to hear that Clijsters beat V. Williams.

Nadal is up against our young wild man Gaël Monfils next. Poor Gaël....!

Hey, I'll be needing an update because I'm asleep when the important stuff is happening.

The Nadal-Monfils match is just about to begin as soon as Serena completes dispatching Panetta. Tsonga started quickly against Gonzo in the match just finished but seemed to lose his focus towards the end.

Likely but hardly preordained. Djokovic, and Del Potro have great chances still I reckon with Soderling and Gonzalez also still dangerous. I can't recall ever seeing such depth in men's tennis and I've been following the sport for a long while.
<edit> The Monfils-Nadal match last night was absolutely scintillating in places- tennis of the very highest order. In the end though Monfils seemed to display a lack of fitness to win a five setter against a top opponent.

Monfils always has some incredible moves, but he is young and undisciplined. In France he is always mentioned as being a "slider" -- it looks great when it works, but it looks stupid when it fails.

So, is Nadal already a burnt out has-been? It's starting to look that way.

I don't think so at all. I think it was a case of an injury affecting his performance. Of course his game almost guarantees further injuries.
Serena and Clijsters certainly gave everyone a lot to talk about.
Federer has to be a strong favorite today but DelPo is on amazing form. I hope it goes at least four.

Nadal has always thrown himself around alarmingly. It has to be hard on him, but fun to watch. I hope he can heal and modify his style for a longer run; knees are so tricky. Federer's natural grace is beautiful in a different way, making it so pleasing to watch them play.
When I described Federer's next to last shot to my daughter away at college, she said, "Showoff!" (She had been rooting for Djokovic.)

Federer was gracious. I only caught the end of the last game. I'm not ready for the youngsters to start taking over quite yet, though.

He should have won. I was rooting for him.

"the agony of defeat" it was indeed.
