Here everyone is hoping for Rio since they have never been held in South America. I think it would be nice to see, but I wonder if the perception of Rio as unsafe could work against it.

I am thrilled as well. I know Chicago was stunned, they didn't even make it in the first round. What was weird to me though is all the pomp surrounding the decision, the woman delivering the sealed ballot, she was carrying it like it contained the Hope Diamond. I guess in a sense it is for these cities, particularly Rio.

Anyway, as they were pointing out on the news, Europe has had the games 30 times, and the U.S. has had the games 8 times already. Enough is enough, until some of the other countries get a chance.

I was amused to listen to Obama's glowing description of Chicago as a city of people of all races and cultures, that really enjoyed a good party, especially when it involved sport. Lula must have been chuckling as it was a perfect description of Rio. Yes of course it is South America's turn to host the games.

I was not surprised to see it go to Rio. Has the potential to be a really good place for top class sport, I am amazed never to have seen a football world cup in Brazil. I am delighted that The US did not just automatically win it.

I bet the CIA is at this minute tracking down the 'traitors' who voted against Chicago in the first round.

I wonder which Brazilian goods they shall choose to boycott?

And which countries will be decreed to be a security threat requiring military intervention?
