I'm coming to visit you, Deyana, & bringing this as a hostess gift. Might I make a suggestion? Rather than putting the answers here to Deyana's question about how you'd entertain your guests, wouldn't it be great to make a new thread in the appropriate country's board? Some of the continents really need input from the people who live there. Also, each person having his or her own thread will give more scope for comments and for adding to that thread.

Yes, bring all the bear traps and bait you like. It'll take all of us just to carry that one, Bixa!

Very nice display, Deyana.
Living in Paris, I am obliged to act aloof and stand-offish, or I would not have a single day to myself, ever. Remind me to strangle my brother next time I see him, because he gave my e-mail to a colleague of his who is in Paris at the moment, and these people were expecting me to entertain them automatically. They even sent a photo of themselves. Luckily I was supposed to be in London this week, which I told them immediately to put an end to their fantasies. When the London trip got postponed, I did not return to tell them that I was in Paris after all... and anyway my nephew is arriving the day after tomorrow, and I'll be taking him all over the place for 5 days, so that's more than enough for this month!
Nevertheless, I'd like to meet most of the people here on more neutral territory!

hmm...yes neutral territory sounds good. How about an a New York meet up? It seems many of us can get there without too much problem. Even from Europe it's not that big a deal I think.

I've found it, but I ain't telling. Not "outing" anyone.
I understand kerouac. I was to meet a friend of a friend in Venice - who certainly wanted to meet me, but not until I'd found a hotel first. Venice is incredibly heavily touristed as well, and a tiny fraction of the population of Paris.
I certainly want to meet people, but since I'm a freelancer there are periods that are slow and others when I work 7 days a week, long hours.
