I usually cook from scratch, but I make much less complicated things than you do, Tod.

I have stuffed tomatoes waiting to go into the oven. I mixed pork sausage meat with chopped shallots, ginger, Italian parsley, an egg, and a multitude of other herbs and spices and of course salt and pepper.
All of the extra tomato pulp will be part of a soup.

Last night was just a salad with smoked herring on tzatziki. Tonight were the stuffed tomatoes as scheduled.

I made ravioli, in this case, some fresh porcini-filled ones made right here in Anghiari. I dressed them in salsa pomodoro cubettato bio from a jar and some minced garlic, covered with Reggiano from the kitchen rasp. Food of the very gods I swear. I can take no credit, when the ingredients are this good and simple, the meal almost prepares itself. I'd take a photo but I've eaten them already. I'm going to make an after-dinner coffee now, add a splash of Havana Club, and dig some GROM pistachio gelato I'd forgot in the freezer out. Proper Thanksgiving fare, I tell you.

Leftovers over here. No big deal for me, had a good restaurant at noon.

We all have to eat leftovers from time to time (and sometimes they are wonderful) but I have actually known people who have said "I refuse to eat leftovers." I am reserving a special place in hell for them.

I mixed pork sausage meat with chopped shallots, ginger, Italian parsley, an egg, I have stopped adding egg to any meatball or stuffing. I discovered that if one does not add breadcrumbs the meat binds itself. Only thing worth doing before they go into the fridge to 'rest', is to roll them in flour. That also helps to keep them together. Kerouac, what is the white liquid surrounding the tomatoes? MIlk?

That is just the fat that drained out of the pork. There are a couple islands of olive oil floating on top. I disposed of it before it congealed.

Tonights dinner has bjd in mind as she makes less complicated meals.
I'm cooking a Spanish flavoured rice made by Tastic Rice ( no sure if it is available outside S.A.) I use it often especially for paella. to the rice I will add about 30 frozen /deveined and shelled large prawns and quite a lot of baby calamari tubes which I have sliced into rings. I will flash fry them in olive oil and butter and garlic first. A bit of chopped Italian parsley - toss it all together , put a panini roll on the side plate and dinner is served!

Sounds good so far. I have disassembled a large cauliflower (only 1 euro!) to try a new dish tonight (more about that tomorrow?) but I am also boiling the cauliflower leaves (only the nice ones) and the central core, a potato, two carrots, two celery stalks, all of the tomato pulp from last night's stuffed tomatoes, a couple of Moroccan green chillies, a large handful of flat parsley, and probably something that I have forgotten and I will make blended soup out of it. That will last me for days.

Tonights dinner has bjd in mind as she makes less complicated meals. Your Spanish rice sounds good, Tod. Keeping things simple, for lunch I made oven fries (fresh potatoes) and an omelette with a green salad. I had a mango for dessert, my husband had a pear.

Cooking over weekends is not really my thing as I try to give myself a break from 5 meals every night Mon-Fri. But the weather was lovely so on Sunday I roasted a whole side of lamb ribs. The butcher had nicked them so were easy to cut through and separate when roasted. Fatty in places but oh so tasty. Some roasted potatoes and freshly picked green beans, baby carrots and some plain white rice rounded off the meal.

I made a massive soupy thing with potatoes, carrots, cabbage, & a mild sausage. It was seasoned with lots of paprika, both hot & mild, plus caraway seeds, sage, marjoram & thyme. It came out nicely.

I made a fantastic gratin dauphinois yesterday.
Then we had chicken, compote de pommes (apples from the garden) and croquettes (mashed patatoes in oil).

Last night at a roadside hotel south of Madrid I had merluza a la plancha. Tasted good but cost 15 euros. For lunch a few km from the house I've just had patatas a la pobre (Poor man's potatoes - thinly sliced potatoes fried in olive oil with onion, garlic and pimiento. The place I go to adds a couple of eggs to it as well) for a starter, merluza a la plancha (grilled hake) for the main course, about half a baguette sliced of bread, natillas (custard made with milk and eggs with a tea biscuit floating on the top), a Fanta Lemon and a milk coffee - for 10 euros. A 'menu del dia' in the area where the house is, is particularly cheap.

Well Bixa ? I got for ramen this definition : magical substance that gives joy. And in korean slang, do you want to eat ramen before you go is an invitation for sex.
In flemish ramen means windows, but i think we can rule that one out...
So, did you smoke weed or did you organize an orgy ? 🦧🦧

The dinner I've just had in my hotel, it was a 'menu' - a portion (not too big, just right) of lasagne bolognese as a starter, two marinaded chicken skewers with cherry tomatoes, red pepper and zucchini on them with half a dozen home made thick cut chips as a main course and finished with a small glass of what was like quark with a bit of muesli and strawberry consomme on it. With a fanta lemon included and a bread roll, cost 9 euros.

Somehow, Bixa, i am disappointed...
Tonight we had sausages, mashed patatoes and applesauce. Typical belgian for gray and dark days.

Somehow, Bixa, i am disappointed... Imagine how I feel! Actually, it was not terrible, as I always gussy up that convenience meal. I put in a couple of anchovies, some chopped onion & fresh lettuce, then swirled in some toasted sesame oil before eating.

I roasted a chicken. They were on sale taday (50% off) as a December/Christmas special so that was enough to make me buy one. But a whole chicken is always too much for me so now I have to find new methods to use what is left.

I have stopped buying a whole chicken as I am only interested in the thighs and drumstick parts. Yesterday I received this special offer from the new small butchery around the corner from my business. I have asked several supermarkets if they could give me chicken like this but all said No. I also like the price and wondered if it compared to your 50% off deal? Mine works out to just less than 1.7euros for two portions.

A meal a little after lunch but will do me for the rest of the day was fish and chips and treacle sponge and custard down on the coast. Every time I visit Spain I will eat a lot of Spanish food, but when the opportunity arises, I'll grab something British just the once as well -

I also like the price and wondered if it compared to your 50% off deal? My chicken was 2.30€ a kilo so it may have turned out to be just slightly cheaper than yours. Not forgetting of course that that means that I usually pay double what you pay when there is not a special.

Tartiflette ! A bery light meal. Tarte ? Noooo. You take bacon, chopped, a good cheese, patatoes. You do a bit like a gratin dauphinois and make levels of it. You also put creme fraîche and what not to link everything together In the oven, with a salad and a good wine and... slurp, miam, burps. Tomorrow, gym.

I had spicy cole slaw (just like regular cole slaw but I added chopped Thai chillies to it -- a brilliant inspiration), with kofta. The kofta spices I bought to mix with the meat were excellent, and I don't care that there was a discreet Nestlé logo on the package -- I will buy it again.
