So strange to remember growing up on the Gulf Coast where almost* the only fish we ate were the fish we caught in the gulf or in the bayous.
* Since my brother and I were children, we also had fish sticks from time to time since children are not fans of dealing with fish that have bones in them.

Bixa, I think Whatagain is referring to "kool" which here is Afrikaans/Dutch for cabbage. The Greek pasta could be Orzo that Whatagain mentioned. Looks like rice.

Yes of course cabbage. Thanks.
It was real good, and the dog is eating the bones this morning.

Locally caught Mahi-mahi, panko breaded and cast iron skillet-seared in butter olive oil mixture. Yum. I had Mahi-mahi recently at lunch celebrating T's birthday. It's not my favorite but, I tend to order what seafood is in season while dining out. Pretty much assures that it is fresh. We are going to what may be our last crawfish boil of the season as they are becoming scarcer and scarcer and the last of a bountiful season. The folks who are having the boil are Vietnamese and boil them in a non-traditional way with lemongrass and other Asian spices. A fresh twist on the cayenne based boil.

Tonight will be a simple dinner of merguez and mashed potatoes since I will need to be in front of the election results on the television.

We're hearing them here, too, on Radio-Canada.
As for supper, yesterday I roasted a smallish turkey leg (thigh and drumstick). I also have some very good small frozen gombos, would like to make some kind of sauté/braise, but don't want a heavy roux. A few potatoes, yes. Obviously onion and garlic.
Ideas?

What’s a gombo?

Gombo is the African word for okra (also the French word for okra).

I had deep fried okra at the Cinnamon Club a few years back. So delicious. I’m an okra fan.

I had deep fried okra at the Cinnamon Club a few years back. So delicious. I’m an okra fan. We had a friend who passed away this past year. He told us how many years ago he didn't have his glasses on and mistakenly mistook a piece of a kitty littered poop for fried okra. I still can't believe he would announce this publicly. We still laugh about it.

In any case, it is okra season in France (probably imported from Senegal). The okra in the stores is absoutely magnificent right now.

A simple supper of pork sausages, savoury rice with bacon and mushrooms, fresh green beans and baby squash - (they are shaped like a butternut and have green stripes), and grilled onion.
A hot meal to warm up as the temp has dropped to about 15C.

I like to have fish somewhere during the week and soon as I spotted the fresh Line Fish and the fillets of Kob, I knew we would be having fish baked in Panko crumbs, small Apache potatoes and a salad. Lovely supper!

Today we had my family come for dinner, the weather was perfect this time. We put chicken thighs on the BBQ. I made a Cesar salad, pasta salad and coleslaw. On Friday I stopped at the grocery store and picked up a couple of large orders of their potato wedges made fresh at the deli and warmed them up in the oven while the chicken was on the BBQ. They tasted better then when we eat them fresh! I will do that again. I also had some green beans. My brother brought a black forest cake from the bakery that was delicious!

What a feast, Mich!
Everything I ate today came straight out of the fridge or the pantry. The temperature got up to 94, so I stayed away from the stove.

cooked a biriani curry with minced beef and mushrooms. It was really tasty if I say it myself, That sounds interesting Mick - I love savoury or curry mince on rice so I guess this would fit right in. Give us a hint how you went about creating the Biryani effect. Last night I grilled very young ( I hate to say "baby" lamb) rack in my airfyer. It does the outside really brown and the inside pale pink and juicy. Earlier on in the day I curried some white cabbage with carrots in a tomato, red pepper and harissa sauce, so that was on the plate together with some of my white bean samp. Today I'm doing duck confit with savoury rice and sweet potato mash and fresh green beans.

Oh, well I didn't do any better. I had some of yesterday's meat sauce left over, so I added a small can of kidney beans and topped it with chopped green onions and cilantro along with the rest of my grated parmesan. I'm still working on the wine.

Kerouac we definitely have a variety of dinner dishes and two people can be choosy what they eat, but there is nothing else I'm really interested in doing except cooking. Mr.Tod does the garden vegetable patch, and I cook. We both supervise the cleaning and running of our AirBnB, but apart from that not much to do really. Covid certainly put the kibosh on our travel so I cant even plan a trip.
There is no food wasted in this house. Every scrap of leftovers on the plate is dog food, all old bread is bird food, and little bits and pieces will be incorporated into another meal. Like tonight - Mr.Tod will eat the rest of two chops on the lamb rack, and I will have the last portion of the duck confit. To make a meal out of these bits and pieces I made a small macaroni cheese and we will see if a lettuce in he garden is ready for a salad.

Tonight I got some frozen Bolognese mince meat out of the feezer, transferred to a baking dish and put a heap of mashed potato on top for a cottage pie. The mash part was made using cream and when that wasn't enough I put in some hollandaise sauce leftover from our fish the other night. Going to be interesting....... Mr.Tod brought me some spinach from the garden so that with a few mushrooms and a dish of roasted butternut and sage will be dinner tonight.
