Dragged myself into the kitchen and threw together a chicken casserole. The only veg we had were onions and potatoes, and some home grown carrots that I froze a few weeks ago. It will be quite plain.

I used the slow-cooker to cook up a thick beef stewy thing with onions, stock, herbs, Worcestershire sauce and beefsteak. The meat was melt in the mouth and I served it with brussels sprouts, chunky carrots and a little mashed potato.
Made an apple pie yesterday with sweet pastry, the chaps had some yesterday and we finished it off today. Very nice.

Lots better Mick thanks. Our appetites are returning. I'm cooking much smaller meals tho. The slow-cooker we have is a tiny one

Last night we had fish and chips from the local chippy, we were hungry but too lazy to cook... The fish fillet was lovely, cooked in a crisp, light batter. We only had one portion of chips between us as even a small portion of chips is more than enough for the three of us. This evening I cooked up a chicken and vegetable stir fry. Only had onion, carrot, water chestnuts and peppers but padded it out with egg noodles. I wish I could remember what I put in the sauce...it was a 'slosh of this, glug of that, pinch of those' sauces...I know that I put garlic, ginger, light soy sauce, rice wine vinegar and sweet chilli sauce in it...and it was very nice. I only needed a small bowl as I'd been pigging the raw carrot and peppers as I chopped them but Jeff had two large portions.

Sounds good, Cheery!
I cooked up a pot of rice, then roasted some rough cut vegetables: cabbage, baby potatoes, carrots, celery, onion, and garbanzo beans. I topped it with a spicy sauce and served as a kind of rice bowl. I have enough left over for at least two more meals.

Roast beef and yorkshire pudding with roast potatoes, loads of veg and a lovely beefy gravy. Only cooked small amounts of everything because our appetites have shrunk. No bad thing.

We had a fillet of pork that I cut into medallions and pan fried. Had it with roast potatoes and leeks and mangetout peas. A peppercorn sauce finished it off. Really good.

What’s for dinner? I wish I knew…getting tired of coming up with ideas for dinners night after night!
I think I’ll do chicken breasts baked in salsa with rice vinegar and cilantro.

I know what you mean! I get fed up with coming up with ideas too. Recently I have designated one night every week as 'make your own'. I've also started making light meals in the evening, simple stuff like an omelette or soup. This evening I'm thinly slicing the leftover roast beef from yesterday's dinner to have in bread rolls with fried onions. Jeff's expecting a beef pie I think....nope.

Sounds very Germanic and delicious! - Is this the same cabbage you bought on a whim and was not quite sure what you were going to do with it? I wouldn't be surprised...cabbage keep well in the fridge.

Yes, it will be the last chunk of cabbage after two sessions of coleslaw and an element of vegetable soup.

You can tell how well I listened....Enjoy your dinner. We having leftover Chinese, maybe some large (grilled in garlic butter) mushrooms. I do know there is Apple Crumble and custard on standby. Maybe for later if I can force myself back to the kitchen in this rain and cold.

I had a pizza. My wife is with my daughters in a Michelin restaurant 🥲 Pizza for the win. Expensive food is far more likely to be disappointing than pizza, which can be both cheap and excellent. That's a combo that no Michelin star restaurant will ever have.

I made my own pizza for last night’s dinner. I have no idea what I’ll fix for tonight, though I have just remembered I still have some of the rice bowl/vegetables ingredients left over.
I lived off of a giant head of cabbage for over a week and have just finished it. This morning I bought another. Will have to think of more creative ways to use it. I usually prepare it lightly stir fried or roasted. Oddly enough, I don’t care for Cole slaw. I think I must have been traumatized by the nasty, individually-sized versions typically served by cheap restaurants here in the southern US. To me, they always looked like they’d been sitting around growing bacteria.

I always thought they tasted like a bowl of sugar decorated with a few slivers of carrot and cabbage, perfect for children who don't like vegetables. My own coleslaw is so spicy and lemony that I would dare serve it only to a few close friends who know my tastes and approve of them. Sort of like my potato salad that can bring tears to your eyes.
