It is past 10pm but I am hearing jack hammers in the street. That is perfectly fine because we were warned that they are going to be working all night to finish paving my intersection by 6am. It is a massive job and all traffic is halted.

When I woke up this morning it was really, really quiet outside. That was lovely, but once out of bed I realized that the blessed silence was because of no electricity in the neighborhood. Darla & I took a walk around the block. When I opened the door on my return I was met with the divine scent of freshly brewed coffee. Stupidly, but luckily, I had not turned the pot back off when I'd futilely flicked it on earlier.

We have been told that there will be military air training in the area over the next few days. There is a military air base about 60 km north of here and 5 countries will be participating, so I expect a lot of noise. At the moment they are probably still having breakfast.

The noise of the planes / helicopters etc at night going into and out of the SAS base a few miles away from my home is quite disturbing - not the noise itself but the impact it is having on my dreams . Scary days and nights indeed.
