Idiom for describing the pleasant and unpleasant sides of one's personality or character. I've heard the term used to describe someone as a whole;"she is a real Jekyll and Hyde". Other times,it's used to describe behavior that deviates so far from the norm that it leaves the observer quite taken aback. Other instances of this can also be observed with persons under the influence of some mind altering substance,be it alcohol, various drugs, even caffeine. For me,the most glaring example of this behavior is almost always brought on by any type of threat to loved ones,be it family or anyone else close to me. The real Jekyll and Hydes I have encountered in my life, without even being under the influence, have made a lasting impression on me.

Don't we all have different aspects to our personalities?
Isn't the world set up so that we all have to 'fit in' to some extent or another? whether that be at school, at work or in social situations? Don't most people want to feel part of a group, even if it means burying some of their own traits and ways in order to do so?
I've realized that I'm not a robot, that I do have many moods and depending on the situation I can seem like two or more different people, but all of them are a part of me. I try and be honest with myself. I know I have it in me to tear someone to shreds if I put my mind to it, I also know I have it in me to be the nicest, most caring person if I choose to be.
Regarding our personalities on forums, I think each forum as it's on vibe and sometimes you just have to go along with that, or stand out and maybe upset people too. So yes, I conform to situations, just like most people do. But I think as long as you are aware that you are doing this and why you are doing it, it's all quite normal.

I've come across some real Jewell and Hyde type characters in the past, in my real life, the one's that obviously have some kind of mental disorders. At one time I was threatened at knife point, an ordeal that lasted 30 minutes. This was a man that could come across as the most charming, intelligent person, but who had deep physiological problems.

I see what you are saying deyana. What I'm referring to is the more extreme deviation in a person's normal everyday as you know them behavior to that of something almost completely unrecognizable. The knife wielding fellow you described has the typical sociopathic/psychopathic character traits. Almost all are charming and very intelligent.
