November 24, 1859, saw the release of a single book, On the Origin of Species, which would change the way we think about the world forever. Charles Darwin knew he was onto something really big - his discovery would challenge both religion and the accepted science of the time. He kept his discovery a secret long after he made it and was so physically ill with the stress caused by wondering how it would be received that he vomited nearly every day for 20 years. For anyone who enjoys audio documentaries, I highly recommend this one, The Evolution of Charles Darwin, available for free download, produced for the CBC by the team of the weekly CBC Radio One program Ideas.
