On another thread Kerouac said he despised mulled wine.
Here is a recipe which is suitable for a cold day.
2 parts red wine 1 part brandy 1 part sherry Some sugar An apple studded with cloves looks festive.
Heat until just below boiling.
Do not drive after drinking this.

I'm fine with that as long as sugar is kept minimal - I find sugar + alcohol = instant headache.
See you don't really spice it - guess that is more Germanic?
Don't ride a bicycle either!
Normally I wouldn't like that type of beverage much but remember having a gobelet of it on a very cold day and it really did provide a nice warm glow.

Yes, if you should happen to come by and we are roasting one of the organic chickens we get from our farmer (a neighbour used to get the weekly produce boxes from him), I'll make sure to go out and buy a $2 kg supermarket chicken (on sale) for you. I'm not mad about Glühwein either, but under some circumstances I find one gobelet can indeed provide a glow. It does remind me a bit of our infamous "Caribou" which is worse, and was notoriously served at the Carneval celebrations in Québec (City).

German mulled wine, Gluehwein, is not my favourite either. But for some reason I do like a 'Feuerzangenbowle'. Hangup guarantied. You'll need this: This And this Enjoy!

Oh I loooooooooove mulled wine. Mulled wine and sausages in the cold is just brilliant.
On Saturday I was given a glass of hot spiced apple wine with a small drop of ameretto. That was special.
