This idea came to me when reading LaGatta's tourtières thread, with its mention of "oreilles du Christ". A jelly roll in Spain is a "brazo de gitano" -- gypsy's arm. A jelly roll here is a "niño envuelto" -- wrapped child.

At the hotel in Queyssac-les-Vignes I have eaten the deep fried little balls of batter known as pets de nonne - nun's farts.

I always thought that it was strange that in the U.S. South we called the icky crab 'lungs' ladyfingers (not that they are a food item), while the Indo-Pakistanis call okra ladyfingers.

"Ladyfingers" for crab lungs is kind of nice. I always heard "dead man's fingers" for them, though.

Toad in a hole, to add to Livaco's choices.
Here we get rat shit chillies and cloud ears (a brown fungus that grows on trees, you all know it in its dry form).
