I cut open the aubergine for tonight's dinner - and it was decaying inside.
There are carrots I could have dug in the garden but (a) it was dark, and (b) it was snowing.
Thank heavens for frozen peas.

I should have done them with lardons, garlic, parsley and lots of butter. They were plainly cooked.

I don't quite get that - because of the local anaesthetic of a zone serving - among other things - for peeing?
imec and anyone else in Canada, the President's Choice tiny frozen"petits pois" are actually very good. I was sceptical as I never cared for frozen peas, but they are tiny, tender and excellent.
I always have frozen spinach in the fridge in wintertime. Wish I could get frozen kale as in Netherlands.

It's a standard prescription for post-vasectomy care - a comfy chair and a bag of frozen peas (for the bag).
Yes, I have tried PC petit pois and agree.

It is also standard prescription for sprains.
I have used the pc peas in paella, fresh-pea soup, curries and many other things. But they weren't used for any therapeutic purposes beforehand.

I get twitchy if we don't have Birds Eye frozen peas in the fridge.
I chuck a handful in lots of stuff (is there any kind of rice - Paella, risotto, biryani - that isn't improved with a handful of peas?) and perfect for those last minute meal emergencies like yours Baz.
I even prefer them to fresh peas.

There are always two packages of frozen peas(Birdseye) in the freezer. One for me to cook and one for Mr. T63 to use when his knee is giving him fits. Even our Doctor recommended him using it for the swelling. I use frozen peas in many different dishes.

Not a big fan of peas. Have a bag of frozen ones in the freezer for emergencies only. I ought to try the PC brand Lagatta suggested... I am generally impressed with PC products.

I only use frozen baby peas. They are better than anything you can buy unless you grow your own or know a farmer that picked them that day.

I do buy fresh small peas at Marché Jean-Talon in season, picked by a local farmer early the same morning. Once shelled, they are far more expensive than frozen, and of course a lot of work, but I like to buy local food as much as possible.
existential, I always hated frozen peas, and I like the PC petits pois. They also have frozen edamame (green soya beans), an excellent source of vegetable protein. Of late there has been a lot of criticism of overprocessed soya products, but I think some edamame once in a while is fine. And a stir-fry mix that is quite decent when it is -50c or whatever you get on the Prairies (or even our current -9c) and don't feel like tramping out to the shops.

I like my potatoes free from peas and corn. I think peas ruin everything, actually... I made chickpea ala king a while ago and the peas affected the whole flavor! I can do canned peas for some reason, but I don't really eat canned vegetables. Edamame is something I didn't come across until travelling further west... so I don't know if the craze has hit the east coast yet. I don't really "get" them... I've only had them once, pinned to the rim of a Caeser. But I started seeing them everywhere as an appetizer, and I can't understand why anyone would want green soy beans in the pod for an appetizer... or at all, really. I think the moment will come, eventually, when I realize why they are so popular.

I am so with you on this EC. have not even read thread until today because of. I had a decent paella recently,or would have been but for the proliferation of too many peas.A few is fine,but this was overkill. Ruined the dish I thought.Also don't like in mashed potatoes. Fresh peas always please.This is one of my major food snobisms.
