Tomorrow, my niece and her husband leave South Africa to teach in South Korea for a year. It also happens to be her birthday tomorrow. I will see her briefly at the airport tomorrow, and want to give her a birthday gift.
It needs to fit in her hand luggage, needs to be hand luggage complaint, and something very useful.
I have bought them a Rough Guide to Korea, which I will give them tomorrow, but I want something for HER.
Thank you (in advance) for your brilliant ideas.

Textiles!
Doesn't South Africa have beautiful textiles typical to different parts of the country? It could be a garment, a table runner, or something else that catches your eye.
What about those wonderful embroidery pieces made right there in your area?

Bugger, I wish I had thought of Kopanang embroidery before, they make to order, so I have left that too late!
I will look out for a nice African table cloth or the like, will have to hit the shops this morning. Wonder what my boss will think of that?

Speaking of textiles -- he should be slobbering on the hem of your garment with gratitude that you bless him with your presence at all. You can tell him I said so!

Deodorants ! I think it was BIA who once mentioned that Deodorants are not available in Korea (or only very expensive in exclusive shops) and that she had to order it from the USA.

HT, *kiss* *kiss*
Korean dictionary, or phrase book .......... you may be on to something.
THough, she has just called in a panic because the courier service has not collected their visa's which were supposed to be delivered to her home this morning. They are travelling from DBN to JNB this afternoon. So Aunty Palesa is sorting it out for her, so I may not have time to get a pressie, but I think the visa may be slightly more important.

Do you think they would be leaving for Korea without already having bought a dictionary?

I think the fact that I collected their passports and visas for them this morning and paid what had to be paid will just have to do, I don't have time to do more now I am afraid.

I like being given Chanel body lotion which is expensive and I hesitate to buy it for myself. She would like that. 'Allure' or 'Mademoiselle'.

Well, more of a statement, but feel free to disagree. Despite being fragile and emotional, I do not think I will jump out of my window.
