Paris, day 4 (Part 9 of imec in France)

Day 4 - July 14th!!
As most of you know, July 14th is France's major national holiday with parades concerts fireworks and so on. In order to see the military parade, we would have had to get up too early for our tastes to get a good vantage point. So we opted for our usual 9 AM wake-up which gave us enough time for a leasurely breakfast in the 6th floor executive lounge and allowed us to catch some of the overhead part of the parade.
For our main daytime activity today, we decied on a cruise of the Canal St. Martin which Napoleon ordered built in order to carry fresh water into the city. We made it to the dock just in time to catch the cruise but ended up with not very good seats as the cruise was almost completely sold out on this gorgeous July day.
On the way I bought the kids a toy to keep them happy...
The first part of the cruise takes place on the part of the canal which has been built over and therefore passes through a long tunnel. Projectors are used to show the story of the canal's history on the wall/ceiling of the tunnel. The light passing through the numerous skylights is very pretty.
