I had just seen some awful Golden Globes clothes on the Guardian website this morning and thought that we haven't had a round of criticism for a while. I see I had missed it.
As for the video -- I didn't last more than 30 seconds either -- why would a guy with a stupid beard and a shirt covered with tacos think he is qualified to judge anybody's appearance?

MaxNoSleeves is actually one of the stars of the internet. Of course most such people are assholes, and he is as well. But what is more interesting is how quickly women freak out when a random man criticizes women's fashions. If both of you watched no more than 30 seconds, this indicates that you were not even capable of watching even one complete dress review by this guy, who made somewhat pertinent comments about at least a dozen women. It is always a shame when stereotypes about how women react to certain things turn out to be true.

Since he started off by saying that he knows nothing about clothes and nothing about women, I don't see why I should bother with him. And he looks like a dick.

I wouldn't have minded listening to his criticisms, but it was obvious from the outset that he considers himself a real card, which he's not. Laughing at his own feeble humor while childishly describing what a birthday cake is? Thanks, no.

I posted that before looking at the photos. Oh god, what is wrong with some women?

Well, except for a few, it was better than I expected. The most elegant were among the oldest ones: Isabelle Huppert and Nathalie Baye. At least they know what suits them, rather than being pushed into ugly looks like Lily Depp or this woman in the transparent tent over the bathing suit.

Isabelle Huppert is so thin her head looks like it's double the size it should be.

She also looks a bit stooped. She is, of course, beautiful, but we knew that. I also love the green dress. Lizzyfaire, why is green seen as unlucky in the theatre? I love green, mine would be forest, a bit darker and a bit less yellow than hers (though not teal), as I'm not a ginger. I had very dark hair like the other Isabelle - Adjani - and have let it go grey now. I suspect that Adjani would have a fair bit of grey now if she didn't colour it, but actors do have to keep up an image that "civilians" do not, despite the demands of anyone looking for work.

Even in France where theatrical superstitions are not as strong, I was surprised that Huppert "dared" to wear a green dress.

Do these women not own full-length mirrors?
Sorry, LaGatta ~ I often agree with you on many things, but Huppert's dress is just dreary.

There are no anti-green superstitions, as far as I know.

Halle Berry and Kirsten Dunst ~ standing applause to both of them for perfectly mixing star power, class, and good old-fashioned glamor.

With 2 windows open, I can comment :-): The first two are okay. I don't like Charlize Theron's dress -- it looks as though it's made from recycled plastic. Alicia Vikander is pretty in that dress and I find her face interesting compared to the usual Hollywood look. (Just saw that she is Swedish) Dakota Johnson -- awful dress. Frumpy looking, didn't need the necklace which is barely visible and she should have worn her hair up to suit the old lady look. Don't like Halle Berry's dress or her hair. Janelle Monae -- they could have taken some cloth from the bottom and added it to the top. I don't like the look at all. Salma Hayek -- can't really decide what's wrong with it, but meh. Kirsten Dunst looks fine in that dress but why is she standing pigeon-toed? Ginnifer (Ginnifer??) Godwin looks strange -- her dress doesn't suit her look. Chrissy Teigen -- another one channeling Angelina Jolie from a few years ago. Aren't those long slits supposed to be discreet? Karlie Kloss looks good but copying Cate Blanchett from a few years ago. It's elegant though. Cynthia Erivo -- too much at the bottom compared to the top. The rest are okay or better.

Halle Berry's dress looked better on live TV than in a still photo. I liked the one-of-a-kind look of the patterns on it and it also flowed really nice with her movements.

Yes, poison green.
I guess more in the theatre because they'd be wearing the same green garments every time they were portraying a role, and be sweating under the lighting.
When Rosa Luxemburg was released for her long incarceration for opposing the Great War (remember that Jean Jaurès was assassinated for the same reason, and in the US Eugene Debs was among those incarcerated)... the Social-Democratic women gave her a lovely green dress, though according you your Racked story, they were probably safe by then.

Ha! Great minds think alike. I'd saved an article on the same gala last night so I could post it here, then of course forgot. My article has way more (an exhausting number more) pictures, but yours has great captions, as here: Madonna has given us so much, and she keeps on giving. From what I saw, Frances Mcdormand was the one and only person who understood the spirit of the black dress at the Golden Globe Awards.
