Are people freaking out there deyana? Do take care, hope you have a plan for you and yours. Don't remember your exact locale, how close to the coast are you? I'm a tad worried about the tip of L.I.,it sticks out so far east and it's the surges that are the worst threat. My people are on the water. Be safe and keep us posted.

Thanks casimira, I think on the whole people are taking it in their stride. We are used to stormy weather around here, although we don't get it as bad as the Nova scotia, Newfoundland and the Island areas, (usually).
Our water comes from an underground well, which is powered by electricity. So I'll have to make sure we have enough water in storage, as well as other emergency items. It's no fun though, if you don't hear from me for a few days, you'll know our electricity has been knocked out, which is the first thing that ususallyh happens.
Hopefully, it will pass through without too much trouble (fingers crossed).

Gosh, Deyana, I hope you're paying close attention to the progress of this storm and will get to safer ground in plenty of time if need be.

To be honest I wasn't paying that much attention to it, until today. I thought that (as usually happens), by the time it reaches us it wouldn't be much of a storm, I guess I was wrong. I am getting the emergency things together now and trying to track it's path.

Listen -- before fleeing, be sure to take some pictures of the great clouds that are sure to develop, okay?

I've got the camera at the ready!
It's so calm here at the moment, you wouldn't believe that we have a hurricane coming our way soon. Apparently it won't hit here until Sunday. If it looks like an interesting one, I'll take a mini film of it and try and post it on here, not sure how though, might have to put it on youtube and then paste the link on here, (I'll ask my son the best way to do it).

Hang in there deyana. Having calm is typical I have been told of hurricanes, as in "the calm before the storm' scenario. My mother grew up on in tornado country in Texas, in a little town called Bowie. She would tell me about see tornados and how it would be so dark and the sky would turn really goofy, yellow, green , black. No thanks.
Isn't it a little odd to have hurricanes coming in your direction?

Actually, quite a few of them do that.

Thanks, K2. I have never been in a hurricane or a tornado, but earthquakes are really something to experience, and I grew up in California so I have some experience with them.
BTW, as an aside, it really looks like we will finally have some more monsoonal rain, today and tomorrow.

I was living in a place Called Derby in Western Australia when cyclone Tracy destroyed Darwin, in the Northern Territory a thousand km away. We had rain and bad weather for a week or so.
T63, I was near an earthquake once, 1980 in Algeria. We were having lunch in a small country restaurant west of Algiers and at first I thought someone was jumping up and down behind me. I looked at my father and mother but they didn't seem to notice anything until the table started shaking and everybody ran out onto the street.

Ironically, even though I've lived in both hurricane and tornado country, I've never had to suffer either one.
However, I've felt some doozies of earthquakes here.

I'm not sure if I'm posting in the right place.... Tonight we had a lovely storm blow through. I lost power 4 or 5 times in 60 second increments (while needing electricity, btw), but the pleasure of rain here is really wonderful. I even forgot to be irritated by the rain flooding under my doors.
As for Bill, his trajectory will have him landing over my family's parts on Monday. I am really hoping that Bill gets distracted this weekend.

The Atlantic water temperature is very high right now. Water temp off of Maine is an unprecedented 80Fsomething. Hurricanes love warm water. Bill would be in the Gulf if not for this. They're hoping it veers even more to the east. Regardless, there will be strong surges and swells all over the upper eastern seaboard. All the crazy surfers will be out. It's a strong storm, may get up to Cat. 4.

Looks like the weather will turn tonight instead, as it's gathered speed. I have a feeling that we will (again), miss the worst of the storm. Nova Scotia won't be so lucky... I'll keep you posted. btw, at the moment the weather here is very hot and humid, the sun is shining and there is no breeze at all... it really does remind me of 'the calm before the storm'...

It looks like "Danny" will be bringing a new dose of tropical mischief to Canada by the end of the weekend.

Still a little too soon to tell just how much strength in terms of gusts and rip tides will effect the U.S. Eastern Seaboard but yes,it appears that upper New England and Canada will ultimately get the same as occurred with "Bill". And,there's another system brewing off Cape Verde islands.

Mr. C tells me there's another "disturbance" out there that may affect the East coast later this week. There will be another "disturbance" if it interferes with my getting out of here!

Just checked the weather page and it looks like Hurricane Jimena is heading for Baja California
Bixa and Don:
Is this going to come anywhere close to you? If it takes a right turn, Tucson may get some of it. It looks like it will hit land Tuesday and right now it is a category 4. Yikes!!!

DonCuevas is still in New Jersey, I think. Even if he were home, I think the most they'd get from Jimena would be some rain. I am quite far east from where he lives. We're finally getting rain, but I don't know what weather system caused it.
It should cool Tucson off some. That's no consolation to the areas that might get pounded by it.

Thanks for the update Bixa. I just checkd the weather forecasts on the weather channel and they have upgraded Jimena to a category 5 and it hasn't changed direction. Oh boy!!. it's been cloudy all day today and it looks like by the time it hits it will go down to a 3. It's only moving at 10 mph. 5 day forecast has it coming in here in the form of rain, which we do need desperately. We only got about half of what we normally do from our Monsoon, so we will see.
Glad to hear that it isn't in your neck of the woods? (Where did this saying come from I wonder)!.
