Yes, it is the time of year when heavy fog rolls in here as well. I used to have to wait for the fog advisory to be lifted before traversing across the Causeway to tend to some gardens North of NOLA. It was a real pain because by the time the advisory was lifted it would be mid to late morning. It curtailed the hours I could work over there and was very frustrating. By the time I was finished with one job it was already getting dark due to Daylight Savings time. Over time i abandoned taking on any new clients over there.

I can completely understand your frustrations. I used to live 30 minutes out of the city and had to leave at 6:15 to get to work by 7:00 AM. Having to drive a two lane highway in the dark and the fog was hell, especially when the "country boys" with their souped up pickup trucks decided to pass several of us slower cars.

I HATE driving in fog. Here in the US, being in town, I hardly drive at all anyway. In the house in Italy, driving in the fog can be a real issue. From the house on the hill I can watch the fog come in and recede in the valleys below and I'll just wait until I can see it's gone before departing. It's not being late, it's rescheduling.

That’s what I should have done this morning. Rescheduled. It all worked on in the end. The traffic was very light, probably because the smarter people were still sitting at home waiting for the fog to clear.

Driving to work is a strange concept. I am now allowed max one day a week at the office. The rest is homeworking. Today i watched Harry Potter with Marie in the morning - she stayed at home, ill - then i slept 3 hours in the afternoon. I took holiday on monday, i think i will work to compensate ...
I love doing things with the kids. Even watching tv.

We have mild (13° this morning) weather for December, but it is raining and really windy. Gusts of 70 kph, supposed to get stronger this afternoon.
My son and his kids were supposed to come this weekend, but they were all sick this week. At least, the kids were sick so the parents got no sleep, so it's better not to drive here. Especially for such lousy weather.

For my first car rental in 2 years, I was faced with fog in the Ardennes. Obviously, I also hate driving in fog (does anybody like it?), but it wasn't the worst I have seen, so I was just careful. My closest call was near Verdun many years ago on the A4 autoroute. There were thick patches here and there along the way, and I entered one of the patches not at top speed but still going pretty fast. I found myself in an apocalyptic crash zone with at least 5 or 6 cars that had hit each other leaving debris all over the place. It was after midnight so not many cars on the road, but it was clear that the "incident" had started a certain time earlier (but no emergency vehicles on site yet!), because there were a couple of flares and people standing on the roadway trying to warn incoming cars. I was definitely going too fast to be safe, but I managed to weave through the debris... and continue to Paris. It definitely taught me to slow down dramatically before entering any zone with fog.
In Paris we had serious rain today for quite some time. Also last night it was pouring when my building actually shook during a crash in front of my building. When I looked outside I saw that a taxi had for some unknown reason crashed into the big concrete bike line separator in the middle of the road. It shifted the separator sideways to completely block the street. Okay, it was interesting for about 10 minutes, so I went to bed (it was about midnight). But I got up 2 hours later and the street was still blocked, although there were police vehicles redirecting the sparse traffic and a municipal vehicle preparing to displace the concrete barrier.

I remember when I was quite small we'd gone out somewhere and on the way back the fog had really come down thickly. My mother had to get out of the car and walk in front with a torch to find the white lines. Not fog related but I've just driven about 150km north up the motorway towards Madrid - fortunately, because it is a bank holiday weekend, all the traffic is going south. It was 150km of nose to tail traffic, stopping, driving a km or two and then stopping again. Miserable. One very, very long traffic jam.

It was extremely foggy again this morning, worse than yesterday. Even in town the fog was quite thick and I was glad I didn’t need to go anywhere. It’s almost 2:00 in the afternoon and, though the clouds are higher, they’re still there making the day very overcast. So much for perfect late autumn weather in Florida. On Thursday, I needed to be careful not get sunburned. I haven’t seen the sun since!

Inside Paris itself, fog is very rare, but I suppose that it's a standard urban phenomenon. The heat generated by cities cooks away the fog. And yet every now and then, maybe two days a year, we wake up to fog.

Strong winds (70 kph gusts), some rain, not especially cold (9° overnight, probably not much higher during the day). We had a few claps of thunder last night too.

It has poured rain and suddenly turned into bright sunshine at least 5 times today. And it's not finished yet.

Dark. Leaveless trees. Gray. Cold. Winter. Hating it a little bit more each year.

I did not set foot outside today, and what I saw out the window validated my decision, as well as the rain beating on the roof. That makes two days in a row without seeing a movie, so West Side Story had better be good tomorrow.

I hear strong wind and rain hitting the window panes. It's not particularly cold -- 11° at 9:30 pm but it sure is nasty out there. Not much improvement in sight for the rest of the week. I read that on the coast near here and and down to the Basque area, parts of the coast in towns have been closed off because of high waves (6 metres) predicted today and tomorrow.

I note that it's still horrible here. Loads of rain during the evening and last night. Still very strong wind gusts (80 kph) and in general 30 kph. Avalanche warnings in the Pyrenees, flood warnings in the lowlands as it has been raining for days. Meanwhile, the waves are really strong so rivers can't run off into the ocean, making things worse. Not cold though -- 12° overnight.

Expecting a storm overnight. Freezing rain and snow. It should be a terrible mess in the morning.

Oh heavens people....we are fainting in coils. The heat is unbearable outdoors. The boys are in the pool all day. Even lunch was served next to the water. I love the aircon. It's churning flat-out.

Beautiful in Waterloo. 8c, sunny, no wind. Yesterday it snowed, it stayed in the roads for a few hours so quite dangerous.

It actually stopped raining this morning so we went for a walk. Not too bad around here, although there is a lot of standing water in some gardens and at various open areas near the lake. There is only so much that can be absorbed by the ground after so much rain.
It's much worse near the main rivers and in some places in the Basque area to the south where streets were flooded. In Bayonne for example, and in small towns, as well as in the northern part of Spain. Lots of snow in the Pyrenees too, so there are avalanche warnings in place.

View from my balcony this morning. They say here you'll get snow from December 1st and we did, but just a few flurries. This is a bit more and will last a few days but more is expected after this has gone. Can't see the other side of the valley though because of the low cloud. I just hope on Friday when I drive up to Germany the roads will be clear.
