It is about 12C this morning with full sun, expecting 18C by later this afternoon. There is a breeze for which I hope continues as we are having some family come for dinner, a BBQ, so we sit outside. Without leaves on the trees, there is no shade so the breeze will be perfect. Hope the dinner went well and that the weather cooperated Mich. Heat wave here, up to 87F forecast for the day.

The weather has been quite reasonable since May began, usually at least 20° in Paris in the afternoon even when the sun is not shining. However, I always pay attention to " les saints de glace" (the Ice saints), which correspond to St. Mamertus (or, in some countries, St. Boniface of Tarsus), St. Pancras, and St. Servatius on 11-12-13 May. These are considered tricky days when there can suddenly be a (very) cold spell, unexpected to the non superstitious. More weird information here: The Ice Saints

Hope the dinner went well and that the weather cooperated Mich. We had a wonderful time! But the temperature cooled as the afternoon progressed and then a few rain drops fell when we started the BBQ. We all shifted inside for dinner. We will be trying it again this coming weekend as we will celebrate Mother's Day and my father will be 86 on Sunday. The weather forecast looks promising! 18C with sunshine! Hoping we do not get those cold spells! It was a beautiful day today, 15C with mostly sunshine.

It sounds lovely Mich. Life on the lake must be so nice as Spring finally emerges. Wintertime...dunno. Too cold for my bones I'm afraid. Cold hurts.
Another hot day here. It's early for it to be this hot. Up to 86F for today.

Apparently it reached 21C here today but I still felt cold working at home, of course I refused to turn the heating on and added a few layers of clothing instead.

We're being threatened? tantalized? with a heat wave next week. I personally would like to see some rain.

We had a wicked thunderstorm last night with torrential rains and wind.
Many power outages for folks nearby but not us.
Our animals were panic stricken and we had to medicate our dog.
It's so horrible to see an animal in a state of fear and terrified.

That sounds horrible Kimby - my old dog was like tha, he t hated loud noises of any description and it was so hard seeing him stressed.
It still feels cold here - miserable too ... it is raining but I guess that is good for the gardens and certainly for the grass in my horses fields .

The weather was not wonderful today, but I still put away the second radiator and replaced it with the fan, which I turned on. At work, a couple of people used to say things like "Why did you use the fan? It's not hot yet." I would reply that I prefer to use things like that to prevent myself from discomfort rather than waiting to be uncomfortable.

I was at my son's place for 4 days -- lovely weather with sunshine then clouding over a bit in the afternoon. This morning it was 13° and low 20s and sunny forecast for this afternoon.

Eastern Oz is still underwater and more is on the way down from the Coral sea to the Victorian border. In many places the rivers that are usually able to walk across by April are running 3 metres over their banks. The people are on their 3rd "clean-up intensive" and the beach dwellers are surfing the stormy waves. Some good photos getting around, Space Needle Just as the poor east coast was starting to get back after the multiple traumas, along comes more floods, 2 dead trapped in creeks in their cars and huge loss of property. Insurance companies getting twitchy...many people now can't afford $A 5000 for a basic cover so they will have to look at alternatives.

If it's not drought it's floods. Can't you get something in the middle?

Drama also unfolded on the highway/freeway not too far from us when a gigantic sinkhole opened on the National road. Big enough to swallow an SUV, so the road was closed and a very slow alternative road set up.
I knew nothing of this drama as I sat outside in the warm sunlight and went through the recipes I had torn from the many magazines I was turfing out. Autumn is the best weather ever!

Already 15° in the morning and it's supposed to be 27° this afternoon. A bit cooler here nearly on the coast than just inland. And some storms predicted for later tonight or tomorrow. The sky is hazy rather than bright blue.

What is this thing "middle", of which ye speak? Extremes are getting worse. I fear we have left it too late to stop further destruction, Oz seems to cop the heat first and the damage starts here.

We actually got to 32° this afternoon -- just too hot for May. I am waiting for the announced thunderstorm because this heat has not been kind to the garden.
