. Not long until the Aussies are here......... Brace yourselves ! Actually it is a mixed bag of players...flashes of brilliance but not consistent. The media is focussing too much on individual players and not the idea of a solid team. Should be fun though.

I reckon it will be a closer series than the last one.

I agree, I think there will be old scores to settle too. I just hope the media concentrates on the game and doesn't beat up on past issues.

Absolutely. The England NZ series has been played in such good spirit it has been a pleasure to watch.

Saturday was rained off again can you believe.
He has been selected for the County under 17 team next Sunday against Suffolk. Only 4 from his year have been selected. The remainder are a year older.

Oh dear Mick - rain, rain go away, come back another day eh?!

Absolutely. Particularly as we had scored 315 so plenty for George to bowl at plus he can bowl up to 18 overs per game now. We bowled just 3 deliveries before the heavens opened.

Rain and cricket go together, always a disappointment. "Rain - No Play" is worse than a win or loss score sometimes, specially when I drove 2 hours to see the great West Indies team play and all I saw was rain.

I went to Lords once to watch the West Indies and they managed to score just 160 runs in a whole day.

Great analogy!
On another day at Lords though again against WI with Walsh and Ambrose we saw 4 innings in one day!

Back to winning ways Saturday and back to the top of the league. George 4-48 off 18 overs unchanged.

Well done, consistency is very important, isn't it? I'd hate to be in charge of picking the Oz team for the Ashes. Too many excellent players vying for selection...here is where consistency will beat a couple of brilliant innings.

The 20/20 tournament was a big success - this was his first game for his new Academy and they won the tournament with George taking 2-10 in the final and 6-74 in 16 overs over the 4 matches. Voted Bowler of the Tournament. On Friday he plays for them against Darren Lehmann's Academy who are touring.
The weekend was a bit of a disaster with us losing matches from strong winning positions and one guy breaking his wrist and another badly breaking a finger. unlikely to see either of them again this season.
Saturday league game George 4-50 in 18 overs but upstaged by his 13 year old brother who took 5-10 in 5 overs for the third XI. George now top wicket taker in the League.
Sunday 20/20 quarter final George 1-17 in his 4 overs.

This is exciting stuff, Mick. Please pass on to both lads my congratulations. Those bowling figures speak for themselves...both tight and disciplined bowlers and very focussed. Darren Lehmann (aka "Boof") comes from my state and is widely respected for his batting and coaching. He was unlucky in that he didn't play international Tests as his best years were when Oz had a plethora of great batsmen and he was overlooked. It will be interesting to follow how his protégés take on your chaps. Well, Essex was not a problem but the real fun starts on Wednesday....

Actually the finger break is worse and he has to stay in hospital. The wrist break was clean apparently.

Questa, why is he called Boof?

During a game when he was about 12 years old he and a school mate were having a friendly name calling match. He called Gianetti 'Golden Greek' and Gianetti laughed and said he was a 'Boofhead' if he didn't know Greek from Italian names. By the time they left the ground the name was 'Boof' and everyone was using it. There was also the suggestion that he had a bouffant hair style which may have inspired Gianetti. It suits him, country boy with a big boofey grin, and no pretentions.

Cricket injuries...my son aged 12 took a one handed catch and the seam of the ball cut between the knuckle on his left ring finger. The hospital Xray showed the tendons intact but the joint dislocated.
They re-located it and stitched the cut and put an elastic finger bandage on it. Instead of cutting 2 tails of bandage and bringing them down to tie around the wrist, they just ended the bandage at the base of the finger.
We had an appointment for 2 days time so when my son said it was really painful, I told him to hang out till then as I didn't want to meddle and we had some pills.
When we got to the hospital for the appointment it turned out the cut end of the bandage had rolled around itself forming a tourniquet around the base of the finger and cutting into the flesh and nerves. He nearly lost his finger.
I expressed my opinion of their training to the doctors and nurses in some well chosen words, and taught them how to tie a bandage with a wrist piece to anchor it.
This injury took him out for the 2nd half of the season, but he is OK now.

Gosh, that was not good questa. Good job you know what to do.
Cricket injuries can be really nasty, the ball in the face being a classic one.
When I were a lad I got hit gently in the face but shut my mouth quickly and bit through my tongue which had to be stitched - without anaesthetic..

Hmmm, not a scintillating game but the steady tight bowling by England has shown your lads the art of frustrating the opposition into making rash shots and getting out. Oz, on the other hand, sprayed balls all over the place trying to get wickets. They gave away so many runs that they now look like losing the match.

It is looking that way questa.
And George's Academy have scored 250-8 off 35 overs against Darren Lehmann's Academy...
