It went well although as a trial seemed a bit of a shambles. After a winter of County training they should know who they want by now.
Wonder who you are talking about tod?
Next Test against NZ starts today.

Another league win on Saturday to stay top of the league but not quite as convincing.
George 4-27 in his 10 overs.
His 13 year old brother took 2-11 for the third XI

Damn good Mick - and to think they are still at school!

I hope you are teaching George how to handle interviews with the press and dealing with his fans and sponsors. It looks like the time may be coming when he will need this ability as well as his playing.
Well done to them both.

The way England's lack of spin is going it could be sooner rather than later...

He's due a bad patch....

He's taken 19 wickets for 267 so far this season.
The game format changes now which will suit him as he can bowl an unrestricted number of overs now.
The third XI was impressive as it was basically won by three 13 year olds - Joe as above, Alex who took 4-18 and Max who scored 46. Very promising as the next crop of youngsters.

First loss of the season for George but he took 2-40 in his 10 overs which might not sound so good but he was at home which is a small ground and would be 2-30 elsewhere. Plus he had 2 catches dropped off his bowling and 4 overthrows given away so he wasn't a happy bunny.
Joe 1-17 off 9 overs and his side won again.

The occasional bad day prevents hubris and keeps the team grounded. I hope those who allowed the overthrows and dropped catches had the grace to apologise to the team. Do they have a good coach?

Yes - very good coach I'm pleased to say. It was just that the opposition wanted it more than we did.
The County have asked for George's availability from the end of this month when their season starts.

I don't know about you and Tod, Mick, but I am finding this exciting. To be in on the beginning of what may be two careers in a game I like is a real buzz for me. I am eagerly watching the development of George and Joe, and wish them luck.

I shall join you in a proud mama witter... My eldest son competed in a National motor sport event over the weekend. It was the motorkhana (fast driving tests)and had 103 entrants...cream of Oz best from most states. He came 1st Outright.

Although George and Joe might be brothers and although they are both off spinners and decent batsmen the comparison ends there.
George has all the confidence and belief in himself that you could wish for but Joe is exactly the opposite. Although he has been asked to go for County trials he always refuses to go.

Joe is only 13, isn't he? To him these older lads are men, way out of his league socially and to even share a change room at that age is pretty intimidating. Give him a year or so to mature.
Talking of intimidating...I Googled George and saw his club photo. He reminds me of the young D K Lillee with those killer eyes. Woe betide any batsman who has just taken 6 from his bowling.

Killer eyes! Wow, I must tell him that. He has little respect for age or status when he plays I have to say.
Yes, Joe is only 13 but has always had a problem with self-confidence probably because he has had to live in George's shadow for so long. Yet he wants to be a singer and is just starting singing lessons.

I hear what you say Mick. We have a 4yr old and a 6yr old competing all the time but I already know the younger has more confidence and is a real bright spark. Isn't that usual in families? I'm trying to get a video of the older boy tackling in Rugby Cubs, which is tomorrow after school. I couldn't help laughing at the attempts.

No games Saturday - rained off.
Won the third round of the 20/20 on Sunday against Radlett who are a top side so we are now in the quarter finals.
George0-21 off his 4 but his fielders aren't supporting him - another (easy)catch dropped off his bowling. Because he bowled so tight they got a good run out when they tried to take a quick single.
Joe hurt his wrist training yesterday and out for a week.

A wonderful one day series against NZ now standing at 2-2 with the last game on Saturday. Yesterday we had to chase 349 to win and did it with 7 wickets and 5 overs to spare. Fantastic batting but I felt a bit sorry for the bowlers as it is rather stacked against them.
Not long until the Aussies are here.........
