Legendary photographer Herman Leonard died this week. He was best known for his work photographing Jazz Musicians from the 1930's onward,Duke Ellington,Billie Holiday,Josephine Baker et al. mainly in Paris and New York.He was 87 years old. He made New Orleans his home up until Hurricane Katrina struck his home in the Lakeview area. His fabulous modern home took on 12 feet of water,and he relocated to Los Angeles shortly thereafter. I had never even heard of Herman Leonard until your post, he was a great photographer. After looking at the above shots, searched a bit and looked at much more of his work. He captured an age.
