I thought this article was very interesting, although I think it is a bit too cautious. I frankly would not be thinking "I had better cook this egg due to salmonella and e coli risk." I certainly don't worry about it if I eat a raw egg myself. But I guess some people like to worry.

It's written by a North American, I believe, and so errs on the side of extreme caution.

They probably don't want to be sued by somebody who says "I fed my cat what you said and it died."

Yes, unfortunately that's mostly likely it. People who don't take responsibility for their own actions irk me.

I agree pets should not live ONLY on table scraps and my how times have changed with all these fancy 'All-in-one' little nuggets they love. But, when an animal gets to a certain age I think they should be allowed to eat anything their heart desires! My cat loves custard, chocolate, cake, and raw potato peels! He gets just a small tablespoon or two and then walks away sometimes when he's had enough. He lives on poached (microwaved) hake which is for human consumption not animals , Pilchards in tomato sauce, and tuna flaked in a tin. He also eats little pouches of cat food but only if he is very hungry. As he has no teeth except his one and a half front fangs and the little teeth in between, he can have whatever he will eat!

Sounds like the same condition as my mother.
