England definitely had a close call today, and Samoa has nothing of which to be ashamed.

England is through to the next round anyway so I was rooting for Samoa.

The Ireland/Scotland game is a bit one sided.

I never realised Ireland was the world number 1.

I knew they were, but I never understood it.

I knew they were, but I never understood it. It means they are better than anybody else. Thus team number 2 is not quite as good. Is that any help?

They just won more. That doesn't mean that they are necessarily better.

So a team that hasn't won as much can still be "better"? Winning is not an accurate reflection of how good a team is?

Ask ChatGPT. You have never had a bad day when somebody bettered you accidentally?
Our AI friend told me this when I asked if the team that won the most was the best.

A bit pointless listing all the faults with ChatGPT. Would take too long and I know you don't like long answers. .......the "best" team is subjective and can vary based on individual opinions and criteria. Unless you have a rigid structure, as with the governing rugby union body, that is not subjective but objective with agreed criteria and doesn't rely on opinions for its results. You have never had a bad day when somebody bettered you accidentally? Again a pointless comment made for effect regarding being "better" that is also subjective and not objective.

You live in a very easy world, Mark. It must be restful to accept all of the simplest criteria without questioning them.

Now you are making assumptions. That is disappointing.

Ireland is now out of the way along with certain illusions.
Paris is full of French tourists for once since the capital has been flooded with fans for tonight's match. The people from the rest of France always express extreme contempt for Paris, but they seem to know exactly what they want to visit when "forced" to come to the big city. I think they might crush Montmartre flat today.

England has just got through but I can't see them getting any further.

Yes, they just squeaked through apparently, even though I admit that I only saw the last 10 minutes of the match since I was out. They are supposed to play against France in the semi-finals if France manages to beat the previous World Champions tonight.
Meanwhile, I read that the Irish have flooded the market with tickets for resale for the other semi-final.

I think that France has a good chance of making the final.

France and South Africa are having a Battle Royale at the moment. Tied 19-19 just before the break.

Jeez - too bad France lost by 1 point. I would expect NZ to prevail now.

Now it is time for the French to flood the market with tickets they no longer want. This will be great news for all of the people still trying to get tickets for the semi finals and the final.
