Thanks. Yes, it's from before Christmas & still going strong in its inadequate little pot on my porch.

Beautiful poppies Bixa . The magnolia are starting to bud here too K2 - lovely. I took these this am and am quite taken with them just wish the background was darker - may have to play with them a bit

I love seeing all these gorgeous photos!
Lugg, what kind of trees are those?

Ooooo ~ I don't know about the darker background, Lugg -- the bright sky and the shimmer of the fluff together is wonderful and gives the loveliest sense of impending Spring.

Oh such fantastic photos here! That Dubai garden - no words for the beauty of the flowers albeit in a really kitchy setting. Lugg - your #603 reminds me of something growing in a lab! How fantastic are those hairlike fingers. And as for the latest swirly white spidery nests - Just WoW!
Bixa - those poppies are a terrific shot. I notice in your shot of pink magnolia buds Kerouac that you got one emerging from its outer green casing!

We were at Brookside Gardens in Wheaton MD last week to get warm in their conservatory and soak up some bright tropical colors. Then we put our down jackets on to walk around the rest of the park. From a distance we saw dozens of little balls hanging from leafless trees. What exotic trees could they be? Hopefully you can see from the photo that they are clumps of snowdrops, balled up in sphagnum moss. I bet their feet were cold.

Otherworldly! I wonder if they hang them because the chill factor in Maryland isn't enough to get them to bloom. Or, just because it looks so great.

bixa, winter cold wouldn't be a problem since Brookside Gardens is in northern MD, pretty close to the southern PA border.
I give their garden staff credit for creativity.
I asked a gardener about them and he looked a little disenchanted. They have to be watered a lot, as you can imagine.

Not quite the first flowers here, but these Iris histrioides George are our first hit of color. Snowdrops and crocus tommasianus are earlier, and there are a lot of both in our so-called lawn this year, but those flowers are pale.

Ohhhh, that is beautiful! Fabulous detail, such crisp color, and I love the way you framed the purple Spring beauties in the still-wintry dead foliage.

Thank you, bixa. I expect more winter so don't want to clean the beds yet, but we've had two hot days and the new growth might force me to do it.

WOW! That is one gorgeous cactus flower Bixa. Do you know it's name? I tried to Google it but only came up with more photos of the same flower but no name. Super super photo.

I have'nt visited this thread in quite some time. So, actually all, outstanding pics.
Lugg, your Dubai shot is exactly what Tod describes. She took the words right out of my keyboard.
I'm so curious about 2 of Lugg's other shots. What is the spidery looking pic and the fuzzy looking one.
Bixa, I'm so pleased that you put one of your Epiphyllium pics in here.I was hoping you would.
The pic with the "balls" hanging from it is most curious. Have no clue what it could be.
All the others are superb. The poppies gave me poppy lust.
Thanks good people!!!

Proud of this phalaenopsis that has FINALLY started to flower again. It has been standing here for at least two years but my husband didn't want to throw it away. I guess he was right ...
